Red tractor stakeholder survey on governance

The buck stops with the “leader” - regardless of who is doing what she is ultimately responsible

council should call a vote of no confidence,. Her CV needs damaging to keep her away from other roles where she can continue her destruction of our industry

although shes very rapidly becoming unemployable imo. ........... Would be ironic if she had to go back to ACTUALLY farming for a living!
The problem is like having a multi-headed serpent; Chop one head off and it grows another. So it is with NFU presidents; The culture within the top level of the NFU will produce a new President with the same policies as the last one.
That's a little bit of my fear though

Mrs T didn't like moaning farmers and if BRC keep profiling themselves as the masters of suppressing food price inflation (yes I know they don't necessarily) / delivering carbon goals, the Gov may actually want NFU ............
I think they’ll soon start listening when the shelves are empty, and they will be. Also the Govt would be very negligent if they ignored the fact that the NFU has hardly any farming members!

This is the question that they need to answer, I would wager that farming members prob only make up 20% of the membership. I have asked but there is never an answer given. Yet another of the NFU's dirty little secrets!

Alright. 1 I am not involved in any way other than being a member of the NFU. 2.Lets put it this way, I am over retirement age!! But I did work for them in my Youth at County and Branch Level. And both of my old Bosses and the hierarchy at the time are probably turning in there graves or high back retirement chairs.. I need a short and carefully planned question about this whole debacle. The chair is our new County Chairman who I know well but still suspect he might do as suggested and ban any questions about it.!! But I would love to spoil her day if I can pluck up courage.

If red tractor questions are banned how about something like,
Do you know why so many farmers have left the NFU recently?
Possibly add
People are saying it's because of your support for the green.... red.... oh hang on I better not say that!

Could they not be brought in front of the Agriculture Select Committee and required to divulge their membership statistics?
I think following the Horizon criminal persecution of sub postmasters, there might be some MPs who might like to dig a little deeper when they hear about some of the tricks the NFU gets up to.

It should perhaps be noted that BFU’s membership numbers are a ‘dirty little secret’ too, before you get too excited.

I don’t know how many members either ‘Union’ has but, as seems to be the fashion, I would wager that the NFU still has many times the number of farmer members that the BFU does. ;)

Maybe we should phrase the question, how many farming members has the NFU gained this year - a number or % increase. I'd be happy for the BFU to answer a similar question put to them .............

The question for Govt will be, do you listen to an organisation that is financed by food industry corporations and is losing farmers, or do you listen to an organisation that is run for farmers by farmers and gaining members if you want to gauge farming opinion?
I don’t think that’s the way the government will look at it. They will have listened to the NFU and heard a bit of shouting in the background from other organisations. That will be good enough and policy will be set accordingly.

They will simply listen to the bits they want to hear and that won’t be coming from us so something will have to happen to make gov sit back and listen to the BFU.

Don’t let the BFU suffer from delusions of grandeur.

Yes, But how do I put It?

Bear in mind some people will not have heard of the problem. Some may be older than me, and not be aware of social media, Andrew Ward and his partner will be in the room!!
I’d probably go with:

“Minette, it looks like, in order to maintain my ‘licence to farm’, I will be required to join Red Tractor’s Greener Farming Commitment. I understand that, in order to do that I will have to manufacture Carbon Credits and Biodiversity Net Gain Credits. Will I be allowed to own those assets myself, perhaps selling them at a time of my choosing to the highest bidder or will they automatically be passed along to the supermarkets when I sell my produce?“

Or perhaps the more snappy:

“Minette, is it true that RT’s Greener Farming Commitment will be launched before us farmers get a say in your 2nd review?”
