Protest against the NFU ....they do NOT represent British Farming in the slightest way!

That is for farmers to change, not Govt.
The NFU only exist because enough farmers voluntarily pay their subs to support it, myself included.
This side of the border, they do represent my interests against the challenges that most effect my business.

You will only dismantle the NFU by persuading enough farmers to leave them, and to join an alternative body that most have never heard of.

I see there appears to be some momentum to protest but @delilah is right... what are YOU going to protest about?
I suspect we all want something different as we are often divergent from each other even within each sector.
policy change to encourage the use of more cattle and other large plant eating animals world wide to solve the climate change problem, As at the moment there are not anything like enough worldwide to do the job.
Oh and a policy shift to encourage more red meat consumption to hep with the above problem plus solve a lot more.

Asking for more money won't win any sympathy with the public, especially at the moment when they are told they are in a cost of living crisis.

Level playing field, where by imports MUST meet the same environmental and welfare standards that we have to comply with.

Run with the argument that we are being undercut by imports of poorly looked after livestock and crops that do not meet uk standards

The environmental scapegoating of UK farming.

I don't think we should be or are against reducing environmental impacts.
We are opposed to a concerted effort by big business, governments and a plethora of other vested interests, twisting the science and assessments to put costs and constraints on a farming industry which is RELATIVELY blameless.
And we want recognition that many of the measures being imposed will actually make the net global situation worse.

Sort of answers my point. Our messages are too diverse.
Whoever coordinates any protest needs to do so with absolute clarity (& backing of the greatest majority)
The French have a list of 149 demands in there protests so no reason the uk can’t protest on more than 1 subject…

personally I’d like more support for the actual people farming since I actually qualify for f**k all in terms of grants/ payments but jump through all the same hoops as everybody else…
Less red tape and bull sh!t…
Any imported food too be held too the same standard as ours…
Rules on packaging on foods tightening up so no more of this sh!t in supermarkets with the British flag on that is just packaged here..
tax break be nice 😅

I very much doubt any meaningfull 'protests' will actual happen and the moment is fast slipping away but in saying that IMHO
UK farmers should target every single office holders of
The NFU
Red Tractor
AHDB
and all directors of the national supermarkets
under the banner 'If you dont want us to farm then do it yourself' along with a donation of slurry or FYM to all of the above to help them start growing produce in their gardens or farms
The added bonus of above is I guess the targets are across all of the Uk , so most farmers can help donate

The public would understand the action given super market profits and they wouldnt be inconvinenced , even without any demands or agenda ( though i feel there should be ) the next time the BFU or similiar go into a meeting with any of the above a position of strength and waryness will given to the farming camp as they would then know not to pee off farmers .
Currently I think all of the target list above, know that farmers are hopless at working together and that gives them the upper hand

Sadly i see a number of farmers with high profiles in the media or social media are against protests and I completely understand they dont want to rock the boat or have any negativity reflect badly on them and i equally know well a good few tweed warriors with supermarket contracts that again wont say boo to a goose again for fear of a contract being cancelled , but even if a farmer is not affected by rising costs and bureaucratic crap ( or helped by a sideline) every single farmer regardless should support those that are on their knees other wise the industry is fecked and the will radiate up stream to those that do nothing eventually .

I fortunately dont just have a farming string to my bow but I know there are farmers who work a dam sight harder than me who are really struggling and unless farmers come out as a single force the farming job will be just a distant memory and inports will be the norm for all supermarket shelves

I wont start loading the dump trailer yet but its there if needed
