Did thousands of acres of swathing we had 3 shelbourne and a Heston like that one the shelbourne ones were a bit like a combine to drive but the Heston was something else more like flying a plane we used to go miles on the road driving the shelbournes but the Heston had to be towed did yours have a fold down drawbar on the back iirc you had to do something to the front hubs we ran them 24/7 if you had kids or was married you got the day shift single men got the night shift . Interesting times indeed

The Hesston could be towed but we never did, you needed to disengage the hub motors first. We just roaded it complete with table still attached all over, it even did a trip on the soon-to-be M25 near Watford! That particular stretch was open and in use but at that time still designated as an A road. Remember a fun Saturday afternoon wedged in the Henley one way system too.
I loved driving it, mostly because it baffled the hell out of would-be test pilots. Most had a lever on the right panel for fwd-rev but this one had the floating steering column which when in reverse also reversed the steering direction. Hysterical to watch with a noob on board! Did find after a long day I was driving home trying to slow the van by pulling back on the wheel, didn't work on a Sherpa.

Know what you mean about the steering on my first day driving it something went wrong and the fitter had to come out he had to get underneath while I was in the cab . I couldn’t keep it still and nearly ran the fitter over several times I got the biggest bollocking I think I’ve ever had

Once used a steam cleaner type thing that worked of the tractor exhaust. lt had a cone with threads on which you screwed into the end of the exhaust I can’t remember if you attached the hosepipe to it or it sucked water out of a tank . For what it was it worked ok I’ve never seen another one since then must be forty plus years . Has anyone else seen or got one ?
My father had one! Bloody useless thing, I don't think he ever got it to blow steam.

In a similar vein to the steam cleaner, father had a tyre inflator that used to run off a TVO tractor. Remove a spark plug and screw in this unit which had air hose attached.
Found the remains of it a few months ago. IIRC it had some type of valve system on it that sucked air into the cylinder on the down stroke otherwise you would have been inflating the tyre with a rather explosive TVO/air mix.

This is the ferguson tyre inflator made by Schrader.
