Mini Vans with about 10 cwt of pig or cattle feed in the back.

Bedford vans in the colours of the local tractor dealer

Swill fed pigs (should be called food recycling then it would be all the rage now)

Roadside verges being cut for hay

Pulleys on tractors (for driving a crusher or saw bench)

"Proper" boots

Fat bacon

Porridge that would simmer all night

"Doorstep" sandwiches

Hens scratching around farmyards

A gang of men hoeing turnips

The bread man who would deliver every day

Mobile shops
Used to have a mobile fish and chip wagon round us. Came every Thursday lunchtime. Think it was Taylors fish and chips.
Mr Munn was the mobile shop. Adkins and Thomas rep used to bring a tube of smarties for my younger twin sisters.

What he didnt have ,he could find ,usually at night from somebody else's field
He pitched up one tea time and Emmerdale Farm was on TV . He nearly had an aneurysm when he found out NY Estates was a fictional company. Apparently a well known farmer/ builder had been telling him he needed to deal with them because they were very progressive but wouldn't tell him how to contact them.

I know the answer to that one too. Add to the list of things not seen anymore Orange roofed Land Rover pulling two 7 tonne Kidd spreaders or Rotaspreaders down the road probably running on red diesel.
No light board or number plate either, as mentioned by a young police officer one afternoon, just as Colin pulled up to buy some cigars.
”Doesn’t make ‘em spread sh1t any better” came Colin’s reply.

I bought a Rottera from him at the time he'd bought 25 Ford 40 series tractors. The tractors came with a drivers kit of overalls, bag and TV . One of his offices was full of this stuff and my Dad was telling him to give me a TV but he was too mean so I just got a bag.
