Most of the time, for spring crops, id be telling my father it would dry up in its own time. But even I am starting to think that running a drag through it will be needed. The top is just sad crust. Although ive only legume fallow to drill, so wont be doing that until June anyway. Its all *very* nasty round here, and much spring cropping will be a waste of time.

Saw my wettest 20ac yesterday, has looked good all winter. Looks as yellow as a guinea in big patches, and you can see the herringbone of every drain run this week.
Can't see N getting there yet either.

This one hurts drilled on the 11th Oct till 1am on my own as my dad was in hospital remember walking back and 3 times for tractor loader etc. 150mm in the two week after drilling and 650mm (our annual rainfall till now) maybe 5 acres of 25 worth leaving.

overall I am not sure I have ever seen our farm look worse

The forecasts are all contradicting themselves. The BBC news gave a dry week when I watched it this morning, but my WeatherPro app looks like a dire fortnight ahead. I honestly don’t think they have a clue what’s going to come.
I think it’ll be better than the apps say. Just a bit of mizzle but could do with some sun to get the ground drying. Will force some spring beans on some of easier ground this week otherwise we’ll have too much of a bottle neck when it does eventually dry up.

Maybe your memory is a bit hazy on the year,Don`t think Honda made the 350trx quad until 1986? :)
You’re probably right.
The first 4 wheeled quad I had was a Suzuki 250 2WD which was used to pull my wag-tail on the home made chassis. But I changed that for an ex demo Honda 350TRX about a year after they came out.
Absolutely fantastic quad, except the throttle lever was very stiff and made your thumb ache.
IIRC, it was one of the last Honda quads made in Japan before they made the 400 transverse engine ones in the USA.
They were rubbish in comparison and fell apart compared to the TRX. By that time I had moved here and we need good quads to chase deer. We were forever changing those plastic clips as bits fell off them.
Finally changed to Yamaha (also made in the USA) that held together much better. I’ve still got one that is 15 years old now. But it is semi-retired in favour of a Can-Am 570, which is awesome.

The trade and one or two farmers keep taking of carryover of last years harvest , the only thing we will be carrying over at this rate is urea
I’ve no idea what the trade is talking about with any carryover. I only know of one farm that has anything left to move off the farm. It was mentioned on the latest Harry’s farm video.
Who has got all this grain left to move?

This picture perfectly shows what I was trying to explain to @Bossfarmer about how DD’d crops often don’t start to look like thy have been drilled, until the crop grows above the stubble, usually at about the ned of March when they take off.
The situation this year might be that we can add another month onto that, if it doesn’t end up having to be replanted.
And that won’t be any time soon either.
