Higher forces at Work.

Since many people don't carry any cash nowadays, preferring to only use card.

If supermarkets can't sell them food will they have to give it away for free before millions starve to death 🤷😬

It'll be an early apocalypse. We joke now but by Monday morning many major roads will be clogged by vehicles stopped because their drivers died with dehydration because they couldn't get a drive through Costa.

My wife and I had a child free couple of hours a few weeks back and had a voucher for an Italian restaurant. Power cuts were happening all over town for some reason and M & S was chaos. No card payments could be taken, limited tills could be used for cash only payments, fruit and veg couldn’t be weighed so they didn’t know how to charge for them. We had tickets for the cinema and after a 40 minute wait they told us we best get a refund as they couldn’t get the screens to work. I phoned the restaurant and they said they didn’t know if they could accept the voucher due to compromised computer systems.
The whole of Lincoln more or less came to a stand still for several hours for those who weren’t already carrying cash. A useful reminder of its importance I felt

I like cashless life , cash is a pia , only people who are crying about the demise of cash are tax dodgers , i pay my taxes so i aint aiding and a betting fraudsters who are shafting us all.
Same, I rarely have any cash in my wallet, pay all bills online etc. I'm still capable of figuring out what I spend each week and not blowing a budget.
Get caught out every now and again at an event that doesn't at least take EFTPOS but it doesn't happen often.

People could do mental arithmetic in those days too. The two are linked.
They could but they didn't have computer skills, think we've just replaced one with the other.
A lot of people still struggle with budgets though, that's always been the case.

It’s fine until your currency becomes fully digitised and programmable. Gov gets to choose what you can and cannot spend your money on, I’ll take cash thanks.
