New toy day

No, I ordered it first week in Jan. Bit strange but had to sign a disclaimer to say I wouldn’t sell it to anyone except LR in the next 12 months?!
And what happens if you did sell it? Is there a penalty to pay, or is it not actually yours until after the year. Or do they just blacklist you and try and prevent you from buying another new one, ie to stop profiteering?

No idea, it was kind of sprung on me so I just went along with it.
Always amazes me what people will sign Without fully understanding what they have signed.
just done a bit of Googling and I would assume you signed something like this

'Brand new Land Rover vehicles are only sold by the Jaguar Land Rover retailer network. Land Rover classifies a new car as a vehicle under 12 months old from point of registration.
As part of the agreement to purchase a brand -new Land Rover it is a condition that you will not resell or export the vehicle to anyone other than an official Land Rover retailer for a period of no less than 12
months. Failure to comply with this request could result in Marshall Jaguar Land Rover refusing future vehicle sales to you'.
Basically to try and stop independent dealers and speculators from Buying to resell at vast profits.

Why is it any different to buying anything and selling it on for a profit that’s what business is surely 🤔🤔

I know it’s the principle, but I’ve never sold a car in the first year. When I was researching the model there were a few companies on YouTube that I’d say were resellers of new Defenders. I wonder how they got them?

yes, common practice by them now and has been for a while
It’s pretty much unenforceable though. It’s to try to stop people buying them and claiming the ‘dealer finance contribution ‘ and then paying the finance off immediately and selling on at a profit. I believe theirs commission on the finance to be lost if settled within a certain timeframe

But you can pay the finance off and keep the car, I did many years ago when Ford did a similar scheme when scrapage scheme was running, after first monthly payment.
