Farmer protest in London, read the comments !

"No idea why they are special. Any Kent’s want to explain themselves?"

One Kent here explaining ourselves

The organiser of Fairness for farmers and a lot of the attendees are all from Kent. Why its formed here, a couple of reasons I think, one being that there are/we're a lot of fresh produce farmers in the county who have been under the most strain from supermarket contracts and import competition and haven't benefited from the record beef & lamb prices.

The groups demands are focused on import standards and supermarket behaviour so makes sense for fruit and veg farmers to get behind it.

It's also easy to galvanise protest support in the area from livestock farmers as we bore the brunt of the APHA and DEFRAs mishandling of the bluetongue

restrictions so there was a lot of anger and drive for protest action locally. Initially at least (there was 2.5 X the turnout at the earlier canterbury demo than the London one.

I'm not involved in Fairness for farmers or the protest I just know some of the people that are

TBH, I was just tugging a chain.

In fact, you will be blessed in late May when Mrs BR & I are leaving the Sainted Isle to spend two weeks in the Garden of England

Sadly there is little of the Garden of England left.
Although good news tonight on the local news that Hop breeding believes they can get new varieties that can compete with the American hops that have become popular for their slightly citrus flavour but normally only grow in hot climates.

Come to Ashford market and you will at least see some decent stock!

I guess if they were all driving Fastracs, they’d be accused of being wealthy! Their again they aren’t all gong to turn up on Ford 5000/7000 MF 390 and Case 1690’s are they?
A non farming friend of mine (ex senior management of bbc news ) mentioned this to me today. He said they aren’t short of cash as that case and that Jd retails at £250k so let’s say £180 after discount … Joe Public aren’t as silly as they are portrayed. He also asked me exactly what they are moaning about AGAIN. I said I’m not sure to be honest

That’s funny as when they pan round the bbc news room I don’t see them using 20 year old computers running windows 7.
Incidentally I did attend in my 15 year old tractor.
