Afternoon to everyone

Looking at some new pto guards and remeber a while ago (mid 90s) looking at a big rubber type universal guard. It had fittings on tractors and machines and just fitted it over the shaft as needed.... Anyone remembrr what and where? Still can be got?

Truthfully it was a nuisance at times, it meant removing the standard guard from the tractor to fit the adaptor on, if you've many different machines it meant all had to be adapted, therefore all tractors and all implements needed to be adapted, and then when you wanted the tractor without a driven implement you needed to remove adaptors to refit original PTO cover, then you ended up with something like an elephants trunk to store somewhere.

I vaguely remember a friend had them on tankers and the like.

Wondered if they were still to be had as would maybe suit us here when replacing.

Oh well back to drawing board.

They had a good idea, and maybe for a tanker that runs on the same tractor all the time it would have been okay, but from memory, for a long shaft you had to couple two trunks together, I think.
The problem was the taking all the other guards off everything else, so you had to adapt everything on the farm, for the system to be easy.

We had one on the tanker 25 odd years ago, they still weren't student proof!!!! It wasn't the stupidest of design but once it had been caught once by the lad, it destroyed itself very quickly, went back to standard design again after that
