Some of these over 430 day indexes will be skewed if a cow had an unregistered dead calf the year before.

Beef farmer fury over Scottish Suckler Beef Support Scheme fiasco

Any eligible beef calf born after December 2 2023 will fall under the scheme reform.

That point is made in this article.

I think the idea is, if a cow produces a dead calf she gets culled. I'm shocked people don't do this tbh.

Good plan. I'm putting the bulls out tomorrow. They can run with the cows 365.

how does the average number of dams arrive at 401k ?
and what difference to payments will the CI make?

Presumably there are other years included in the calculation that aren't shown on the table.

If there dam doesn't meet the calving index target then her calf isn't eligible for Scottish calf sub (£100 iirc?)

I had a dead full term calf once because of a stupid wee vet. Didn't know what she was doing. I phoned the boss but it was too late by the time he got there. She was gone within a week and I had an apology. Still had a dead calf tho.
So what would the sh!t for brains at Scot Gov do with that one?? A good cow too.

I had a vet with a nice arse once too
