We only lambed Cheviot x Aberfields for one year, (due to a change in policy all in-bye ewes were sold off) but I'd definitely say there was more mastitis in those gimmers than I've ever had in the purer ewes. Only about 20 of them so hardly scientific though.
I bought in a bunch of 60 Aberfield x Romney ewe lambs a couple of years ago. This will be their 3rd lambing and more than a quarter have already gone with mastitis after 2 seasons (& 1 third ran dry the first year). Nice enough sheep but way to high an attrition rate.
