The breed? Simple
Yes but what else, obviously the date and tag number, but anything else?

They seem to change what they want here records wise

My movement records have always been the same, passed first 4 inspections, but failed this one.

Medicines passed first 3 inspections but failed 4th (didn't realise you had to have the date they can go back in the tank written down)

Like I say always kept them the same way with same details, passed first few times but not at some point...

Just want to get it spot on for next time so there's no chance of a non-conformance - especially a repeat

Template is on there. I just use a spreadsheet identical to it backed up to Microsoft One Drive.

Same with the medicine book (which will auto fill the “milk safe” and “meat safe” column if you add last treatment date and withdrawal days. No fancy software here (yet).

Thankyou

just to check, that's DEFINITELY 100% good enough for red tractor?

Have you considered Herdwatch app?
I know it’s more expense but honestly it keeps everything easily accessible by everyone to input data from.
calf passports to dry off treatments and I use it for foot trimming records. Body and locomotion scores.
It’s all in one place and at the click of a button you can bury them in as many reports as the can ever ask for.
Think it’s about £200 plus vat a year.

What they want doesn't change but what they find does, this is not serious. If they insist it should be a recommendation, as trading standards would stay, we see how you are doing it now, can you do it this way from now on.

I have used herd watch since 2017, it has been a game changer for my record keeping. I'm dyslexic and have have never been very good at paper work.

It's also very easy to look back, a quick search rather than checking pages of paper records.

Red tractor, dairy inspector and trading standards all happy.

I use the Defra template that others have referred you to, I keep a separate register for dairy and beef, as the beefies are all sold at 5 weeks, apart from the odd one. Just print pages off and keep in a ring folder, I find it's often quicker to look things up on paper than electronic records. Its belt and braces as I also use Interherd+ software (NMR) which is linked to BCMS so I use it for passport applications and movements too.

I've always included where/who they were moved to.

Cows stretching legs and eat a messy field that’s supposed to be in barley by now. Rest of their diet is hay.
