monday thru wednesday

finally reached due date and a slow/steady start.....from a miserable 0.2 live lambs /lambing we've recovered to 1.25 overall and rising (y) ....that said we've problems....slow milk (which is a puzzle) and some small lambs.....at least you can work on them.....little laura is a real bruiser in a week:love:......our suffolk x are best performing which is noted....good lambs + milk......the other thing that i've suddenly realised is that our ewes are very aged....only a handful under 5 years...belatedly i'm working on it....no hoggs have lambed yet

so here's a little 'ditty'......i've been diligent on bottom yard ....decreasing mud little tidier ......helping my morale......ram lamb pen down to 5... we chucked them out onto a little paddock next to hms spin cycle....stock fence one side leccy the other.....of the five...two'll make fat....two screws to run on ....and.....bhuna:rolleyes: (HH's pet)........good dry over the weekend i reckon it'd be an opportunity to retrieve some straw from small barn on grazing marsh

off i go....tractor trailer.....admiral picks me up on mule.....i go back with forklift....plan was load trailer .....forklift home....admiral runs me back etc......good news the marsh is dry enough(y)......bad news...arriving at the barn i find some 'naughty hurdlers' have eaten the first two rows of bales:rolleyes:.....not a disaster but the residue 2ft of muck proved impenetrable to the forklift:banghead:......boom out i got a few bales but then had to resort to straps and pulling bales out :bag:......not good for the bale's integrity ........slightly frustrated ....eventually i'm back at the yard with a load of very fragile bales.....first couple off i loose some straw....i'm swearing:rolleyes:....'my yard'......bale 3......gingerly moving suddenly BHUNA!!!! right in front of forklift the rest in pursuit....i swerve.....off comes bale and bursts all over the yard:rolleyes:......true to his hurdler heritage bhuna had gone thru the leccy fence without hesitation and was last seen grain store bound whilst i ponder if there's more straw on the yard or in the barn😭

K came upon a used touring caravan......needed somewhere to store it.....likes the peace of the farm....so we've done a deal:).....4 nights a week she does last check and first morning check....stays in caravan + small stipend:)........wondering if this is how 'landed gentry live'?.....flatty??😁
