Fieldbee or FDJ?

I am considering a field bee, especially with the sale price. Just my concern is that I want the auto steer motor on one tractor but I’m wondering will the receiver work without linking to the motor as my plan is to have the steering wheel in one tractor and use the receiver/screen on the quad or compact tractor. Iv read what I can on the website and says can swop tractors but I don’t want swop the steering wheel just the receiver and screen but don’t want it to say ‘can’t connect to steering wheel motor’ and won’t work?!

I'm sure it will work fine without connecting to steering motor.

It can be setup in lots of ways, you can even use the app without the receiver, while it will be very very poor like 2meter plus accuracy it will work.
So yes it will work as guidance if that’s what you want.
So, you steer, it just tells you where the line is, and how close to it you are.

Its a package option so its a given.
https://www.fieldbee.com/products

ask for extra receiver attachment bases for each tractor you will swop to, these are stick on fast fit bases. That the receiver locks into. Twist lock is how mine works. Then give it power, they may even supply extra wire looms for manual steer kits. That are cheaper, than the full loom.
Then you can calibrate once per tractor then swop what tractor the receiver is working with in seconds as the stick on base plate lets you make sure it’s in the same location each time.

Is there nobody to ask from FieldBee directly?
Yes just message fieldbee they are very good.
But the info is on the website.

[email protected]
As an owner you get in tractor support, where they can remote diagnose problems, and help with setup.
They can if you let them, make adjustments to the system, while you’re driving in the tractor and text chat to you.
I have found support has been very good.

Yes they rang me this morning after I made an enquiry. Came up with a Bristol number but first was from Poland then 2nd call Holland. Speak good English but don’t think get my Yorkshire humour 😂. They sent me email with info and quote on. And they did say can use the receiver and screen on other vehicles without using the steering wheel motor but will double check in an email as the video iv seen shows it gets connected to the motor.
Yes might be worth it getting more parts so can work on other tractors.

Are fj dynamics and sveaverken the exact same? I know FJD own sveaverken but do they have the same software and support? sveaverken appear to be cheaper.

They are the same as in same hardware and software, as AT2.
FJD come in one guise but SVEA do a “Simple” and “advanced” option.
I think Simple is just guidance lines and advanced brings in field mapping. (Works out around £5500 advanced)
CHCNAV that we now sell has all field mapping, Uturn etc included for £4995.
if all options are added to FJD/SVEA then that makes them a lot more expensive than CHCNAV.

Fieldbee on sale at £2620 seems like very good value especially if you can get the FETF grant of £1146 too.
Thinking about ordering two of these systems and fitting an Ntrip base station in the yard.
The only downside that I can see is the ongoing charge of €200/ year for the Advanced app subscription. Unless anyone can think of any other negatives?
Isobus coming too apparently which will be useful if/when I purchase any newer kit.

ISOBUS will hopefully be here with AOG this year too..

I have been thinking about trying to have a go at an AOG project for a while but this deal seems very good considering it includes a tablet and proper steering wheel?
what would be the benefits of APGPS over this? No ongoing subscription for the app I suppose?

Cheap is for a reason. A few years ago £4995 was cheap and it was difficult to get people to be convinced. After a fair bit of trial and error we realised why and found a system that met both the “cheap” affordable bracket and also the well made and reliable with CHCNAV.
I understand the AOG system can make affordable very affordable but for many that’s too much work unless quite technically minded.
I’m keen to hear how everyone gets on with FieldBee.
having looked into it it seems there are some traps that will catch some out.

What traps do you feel? I’d prefer to choose the right one and only spend my money once!

The fact there is an ongoing charge, also Ive been told by others who are investigating this route that they cannot run on NTRIP, then It will require one of the FieldBee base stations that they quote 2.5Km range, thats not very far at all.

Why are they so cheap?
Because they want to tie customers into ongoing subscriptions maybe? Will those subscriptions increase in price in a year or two?

That would seem bizarre...

The app used to take corrections when I looked at FB, but I cannot recall which now, and there have been several changes recently.

We run a fieldbee system over a 10 mile radius through a sim card with our own base station so not restricted to 2.5 km
