A great policy to deliver. What was I saying about brexiters stopping people leaving?
Stop robbing third world countries of their own, much needed medics.

I guess in most if not all functioning political systems, at least one major political party, would advocate for the correction of a major policy error. At a minimum, they would create the platform for, and drive the debate about the merits for reversal, of obvious bad policies.
However, and alarmingly, quite the opposite applies in UK. The opposition, are scared to take up the mantle, of true opposition, and promise only to double down on the error when in government.
UK, is but a political Marie Celeste. Those responsible for the vessel, have all disappeared.

The one the brexiters did when they held the competition.Which one of the estimates are you using today?
Probably English that have burnt their papers. You could hardly blame them for wanting to live in one of the richest countries in the world............
Still trying to deny reality. Some people on here seem to be so naive that they think Brexit can be undone, unless they have a Time Machine that is impossible . We would be applying to join as a new member
The reason neither Labour nor the Tories have committed to joining the EU in their published policy commitments is probably something to do with the following:
The reason no political party will put “rejoining the EU” on their manifesto is simple. The UK electorate will crucify them as the Lib Dem’s found out
- the EU has dominated UK politics for the past eight years. Such a commitment would guarantee the EU would dominate UK politics for the next eight years. There are other priorities and most people are tired of the topic
- once you explain what it means, a substantial majority want to stay out of the EU
- the failure of Project Fear to deliver on its commitment to harm the post-Brexit economy and trade, shows the economic case for EU membership is weak
- joining the EU would mean the UK has to implement all EU laws including the over 1000 that it repealed or amended post-Brexit, and the 2000 new laws the EU has implemented since the UK left. This would be a time-consuming and complex task and would involve implementing the EU’s unpopular and investment destroying AI Act, put the EU in control of the UK’s financial sector (which has thrived since Brexit).
- the UK would be required to apply for EU membership and without a supermajority voting in a referendum in favour, it is unlikely its application would be accepted
- the UK would have to drop its new and enhanced trade agreements such as CPTPP, Australia, New Zealand and Japan, which would harm the UK’s standing in the Asia Pacific region
At a national level, even the LibDems have backed off ‘rejoin the EU soon’ as a message; So, it seems pretty clear that no party thinks it is a viable platform.
Probably for the best..I’m not defending Truss

Probably not.Just 15 years to wait
Probably not.
The next 5 look more interesting.
Certainly as to how brexit failure continues.
Demographic changes that have already happened mean the boomers are no longer a group worth chasing for a majority.
There can’t be an argument any weaker than one that depends on people dying to come true. Talk about desperationAh yes dead people again.
