Red Tractor sector board passes leadership vote of no confidence

We now need a cereals vote on the AHDB as they are seriously bad news. We’d all be better off without them.
Seconded they don’t want to support farmers so why should we support them!

AHDB know full well what the feeling about red tractor is without further discussion amongst them selves and should have taken a brave pill and voted in the best interests of the farmers there supposed to be representing.

i think it’s more a case of we would be better off without SOME of the current management / boards

they are going to have to become more accountable to use levy payers and we need to hold farmers on their boards responsible if they fail to challenge and hold management accountable for decisions

someone needs to directly ask Will Jackson to justify the reasons for his abstention, his opinion is not valid or good enough, he should be representing levy payers so it’s that majority opinion that matters

Spoke to AHDB today, from what I can mak out, weren't expecting the motion and AHDB person at meeting didn't feel able to make a decision for whole of AHDB without talking to rest of them first. Just telling you what I've been told.

Seems as though board was farmer heavy anyway so motion carried.
If the board member doesnt have the balls to vote what are they there for? They know full well the sentiment of farmers (us buggers that pay their wages) so why cant the individual vote?

sounds a lot like a cop out to me

Will Jackson knows very clearly what the majority of levy payers want

Assume you are referring to Will Jackson?

Funny because he didn't hesitate to vote for the GFC in September.

Ahdb is looking more anti farming every day.

Hats off to the NSA for making this move.

If RT is to survive in any form, the chief exec and chair must go. They should’ve gone long ago when they dropped GFC. Their continued presence is just further damaging RT’s reputation with farmers, at a time when the wider FA review is just gearing up.

So well done NSA. The unfortunate thing is that the first move had to come from a member of a sector board, rather than from the members of the ownership board that are ostensibly on the side of farmers.

if correct levy payers need to make it clear how they want Will Jackson to vote on their behalf

get emailing him !
From FW:
An AHDB spokesperson said: “AHDB chose to abstain from the vote. Our view is that such a vote of this nature needs clear consideration and discussion within AHDB in the context of recent public statements by the Assured Food Standards board that recognises the need for change as well as the wider context on the role of assurance of which a review is currently being conducted.”

So they will be discussing this within AHDB- let’s hope they take into consideration the views of their levy payers too. 🙏
