We had this over pay issue with one of our previous suppliers. Ended up changing to Scottish Power at the time as they would pay interest on balances in credit above a certain amount.
Eon-Next are now on our annoyed list. The house we've recently moved in to is with them. They sent out the...
We were on the renter side just over 2 years ago when I lost my job due to the company cutting back with the effect of covid on sales. At the same time our landlady decided she wanted us out so she could sell the property as empty. Covid and the shut down of business's did affect a lot of...
We've used one of the ultrasonic plug in devices with a lot of success. In two different houses we had problems with rats or mice getting in to the cavity walls. Plugged it in and a day or so later no noise or evidence of them.
For galvanised metal you can either leave to weather or use Mordant solution first. Fairly cheap to get and easily applied. From memory it turns the surface black. Commonly used on Landrovers when galavanised chassis are fitted. They are less obvious if they are painted, less likely to be...
All the large companies I've worked for did it either from Jan to Dec or Apr to Mar. All large multinational engineering companies. Odd bit was that one of the companies did it one way for one site and a different way for the other sites. But I think this may have been historical. One...
I've had success in the past using white spirit. Easily removed the overspray that had made it on to the company car. No damage to the existing paint. Although that was within a couple of hours of having done it.
You can always do a site without electricity. A lot of caravans now have solar panels as well as batteries. There are quite a few people who want to go away to sites that are quieter and more rural. I think they used to be called hideaway sites. Remember staying on a few as a kid with my...
I've got Halfords sets, they work very well and have taken a fair amount of abuse. Wait for one of their regular sales and they are good value for money. Lifetime guarantee and plenty of Halfords shops around so replacements are easy to get.
We are currently looking for a house with a bit of land to buy (along with many others!). Lots come up with uplift/overage clauses on them. In our case it doesn't matter as we only want the property for ourselves. We have seen a wide range of clauses, some for 10 years, some 50 years, wide...
Hydrogen and ammonia fuel systems are my day job. Prior to that I developed heavy duty diesel injection systems for the likes of Volvo, DAF, John Deere etc..... So a few bits below that may help:
Water in diesel. Yes this has been trialled extensively over the years. I think Ruston or one...
True, it would have to be something like the energy needed to keep the whole property at 20 degrees for 1 hour. Probably not the most practical way of doing it but would at least be fair.
EPC to me is fundamentally flawed. It goes by what features are in place rather than how efficient it is. Each of the last three rental properties we have been in have had very similar EPC ratings. All had double glazed windows, cavity wall insulation etc.... But the middle one was a lot...
In order - Leicestershire, Gloucestershire and now Nottinghamshire. A lot depends on the Landlord and we have had both good and bad. We have rented houses so expectations may be different for flats.
A viewpoint from the renting side. We've been in rented accommodation for the last 5 years as I have been changing jobs. Now in our third rented house in the third different place in the country.
For white goods we mainly have our own. We only expect to see white goods included if they are...
I don't have a smart phone, instead sticking with an old fashioned mobile phone. I very rarely find it limits me. And didn't cause me any issues during COVID. I do use a laptop for work and do need to be online. But I don't think a smart phone is as indispensable as most people think. It...
I tend to start with the absolute basics. The priorities in life to enable us to live are: food, shelter, heating, medical. After that everything is a level of optional. Therefore isn't it impressive how little emissions are used to do those four. And should we start reducing our ability to...
The student let property is Grade 2 listed. Lots of added expense for any work that needs doing but does that make it exempt from EPC rental rules? I know EPC is not needed when it is a Grade 2 listed house being sold but not sure on rental.
Good thought on septic tank and soak away. But no septic tank as it is on mains drainage. Although it might have been on a septic tank before, the two bits are dated 1958 & 1959. Plus plenty of it's own land to put it on.
I'm thinking it's access to the other side of the boundary hedge & fence.
Thanks everybody. That makes a lot of sense. Sounds like it is a benefit and may well be an access right. Definitely put my mind at ease. Will update with the actual details when we get the paperwork through from the solicitors.
