Putting liquid on the other day, the thought crossed my mind that I still hadn’t sang the praises of Simper’s Trade Counter from last year’s fert campaign, when I succeeded in destroying 5 BFS Autostreamers on the trot - leaving me lacking any spares. In a blind panic, I texted Neil at Simper’s...
Wasn’t really sure where to post this, but guessed here would be a good place to start!
Please could someone identify this plug, and ideally tell me where I can get a pair or them (Without having to buy a new battery-Which is what is in the other end.)
Any help very much appreciated....I’m...
Not quite sure where to post this, so please move if necessary/better placed elsewhere.
I have been asked to dry some Canary Seed with our batch dryer (Mechmar mobile). I have been advised to use the “Wheat” setting on our Sinar AP6060, and dry it to 15%, Which apparently equates to 12%...
Hearing mixed reviews. Some rant about it, some turn it off and continue to control the booms manually. Talking really about widths greater than 28m, in this case, 36m, and optimum speeds etc.
Does it work well with VG booms? I can understand it working very well on level land, smooth hills...
Does anyone know whether this will be a problem....? Is it safe to graze Phacelia with beef cattle?
Will be drilled this week, then grazed in June/July, but could be ensiled instead if necessary. Herbal ley will then be zero tilled into the aftermath.
Tia,
Tim
Right! I really need some help/advice on this, please!
Ex-winter wheat stubble, no overwintered cover crop. Soil is a medium Clay loam with a smattering of docks, thistles, AMG etc. Has had a light, and now very dry, dressing of FYM. 2 fields, both of which have just had some drainage work...
Before or after some rain has closed the cracks.....750A, Winter Wheat behind Linseed, it'll take a bit of rain as it's fairly light stuff (40% Clay, 17% Sand, 43% Silt), and we have half an inch due this weekend followed by a week of kind weather....TIA, Tim
Hi folks,
Anyone had this happen? Didn't notice it before we drilled the first field of CC, but the paint wear shows that it happened before use....
Only 3 discs are showing this.
Thanks,
Tim
Hi all,
I'm having trouble working out the pinouts for a couple of redundant Teejet cameras that I have. I don't know whether it's possible, but I'd like to connect 2 of these :
To these :

I've been asked to ask whether there is an affordable way of keeping starlings out of feed alleys in livestock buildings? Don't have cattle myself, but said I'd try you affable lot, as you usually have a solution. Farmer has been recommended lasers, but they're apparently £1500 for a basic...
So a great many people are suggesting that in order to combat Blackgrass, it would be prudent to return grass into the arable rotation. A great many nostalgic types are also waxing lyrical (and always have) about the good old days of mixed farming, quaint fields with overgrown hedges and...
How easy, and how costly would it be to change a Kverneland/accord/muller metering system to one that is capable of variable rate drilling? I.e. Ripping out the old metering system, and replacing with new one? Does anyone know of any companies that specialise in supplying one off units? Thanks...
Just a thought that's been going around my head for a couple of years :
Flea beetle is felt by many to be a significant issue.
Slugs are too, as are pigeons/pheasants.
It is generally felt that low seed rates at drilling, and thus low plant counts in the spring, lead to a better canopy/yield...
Ok, firstly, sorry for the longwinded preamble, but having read so much on this forum, I thought I'd better round off as much as I can from the off!
Last autumn I decided to try and test the yield potential of Winter Oats on our farm, so I took the plunge and drilled on the 1st October (usually...
