    The day Brain had that loadall delivered, he needed to take some corn seed to the drill in the field. So what did he do? He used the skid loader to take the bin off the seed tender , emptied a bag of seed into the the bin, put the bin back onto the seed tender, then headed off to the field.

    Ours was new in 1996. In order to get a full days chopping without a break down we would spend a couple of hours every morning checking every bearing and idler sprocket with a pry bar, tightening and oiling chains. Keep a set of new bearings for feed rollers and sprockets in your store...

    Does anyone else thinks he has an awful lot of equipment. For example they have two combines but rarely run both at the same time as there is usually only him, his dad and his brother.

    For the last ten years or so we've used TESCO super absorbent clothes (still 3 for £1). We wash about 40 towels (100 cows worth) at 40 degrees in an ordinary washing machine. Use non bio powder and a cap full of detol. If we put to many towels in the machine it wont spin them dry properly...

    Muddy gateways?

    This time of year its loads of muck going into the field that mash up the ground and makes the mud. If possible i try to use two gates, one for entrace one for exit. It keeps the mud on the road to a minimum , even if means going out trough an ajoining field

    You could get a VOIP phone (Voice Over Internet Phone) . We have fiber broadband and a box to connect the router to the phone. We are with vonage. Our package costs £12 per month + . Calls to landlines are free. You can keep your old landline number. Of corse your phone wont work in a power cut...

    We used to have a 2003 MXU 125 would boost to 145 for PTO and road work. Should be well within your budget.
