Have a look out for MF 8220 to 8250 if you can find one that is not worn out as they are getting old now, heavy rear end and with the original 32 speed dynashift and mechanical injector pumps. The last of the models will have the letters xtra written on the bonnet , if my memory serves me right...
Everyone will have a different opinions according to there own experiences with there own equipment and soil types . From my own experience and l have ploughed 1000s of acres over the last 30 years , if the conditions are ideal and your ploughing flats you can turn the draft off. If your in the...
Maybe try set your hydraulics to run with a little bit of draft control to pull the rear end down , l do this when l use my subsoiler it makes a big difference to traction while still maintaining your depth required.
You know your a stock mans tractor driver when the little missus jumps in the tractor to spend some time with you, and she begins to dry reach. And you cant smell anything because your nostrils are immune to the stench in the cab.
Anyone know whats actually failing in these dyna 7s, and is it both versions of the gearbox that are failing the mechanical or is it the double clutch versions of dyna 7
Its a nightmare in Australia to, spare parts are back to pen and paper from what l am told. l do all my annual servicing this time of the year and have been waiting weeks just for filters.
Imo its a shame they did not release the 6 and 7 series with a smaller version of the dyna 7 trans, l can live with a revamp of the older cab its better to have a smaller door on the smaller chassis tractors that are going to be climbed in and out of 100 times a day. Just my opinion
Try to get an 87 series on demo thats over 300 hp without boost if you can to allow for that extra cast iron, l will guarantee you will like the cab keep us posted on how you went with the demo if you can get one
In my opinion go the largest 7 series or the new 8s vario when it comes out, 8700s are a big step up in tractor l wouldnt buy the smallest of a large frame tractor to much weight. We have an 8737 and a 7626 and the 87 is a lot heavier although its turns as sharp as the 76 and is a lot nicer to...
Just my opinion but life without independent brakes in cultivation sounds like a nightmare, heavy implements on the 3ptl, sticky conditions and working on slopes they are a must have, especially headlands as well
Our 8737 has been a great tractor only niggles have been a warranty update 3rd accumulator fitted for the brakes and it needs a power steering update under warranty. Plenty of power, great cab and layout it runs cooler than our 7626 and a lot more comfortable to drive and its quiet nimble and...
We had a tractor go under in floods years ago, pop injectors after water and oil is drained from the engine, crank slowly get all the water out of the cylinders then fill each cylinder with a little diesel and repeat process then completely fill the engine with diesel and let it drain after this...
My personal opinion would be 8220 or 8250, 8100 series are not masseys finest machines only worth looking at if you know the history and its dirt cheap, 6290 might be a bit light and you would have to pay a premium because of there rock solid reputation, hope this helps....cheers
We have both 8280 and 8240 both with powershift they are great old tractors, in my opinion l would not by an 8260 very heavy for the weight there is a big difference in the drive line weight between the the 8240 and 8260 if you want the weight and traction of an 8260 then buy an 8280 they are...
MF 8280 are a solid old tractor if you can find a later model with the heavier dana front axle they have full diff lock earlier ones had the lighter limited slip zf front axle. Big AG 250 funk powershift and dual planetary and dual brake rear end. We have one other than a few electrical issues...
