This is a similar system I saw on a visit to Holland last year. The unroller was powered by a hydraulic motor connected to a tractor spool valve. I think the unroller was about 30k. The tubes on the cover were filled by pumping water out of the dyke into them.
I put a 50m3 EB bin in for parlour cake so we can take an artic load with room to spare. Cost saving over an 8 wheeler load I was quoted £4/t . Only issue with our bin is knowing how much is in it. Due to the size the fibre glass is quite thick so you can’t see the level until it gets into the...
It’s like comparing apples and pears. One is a starch source with some extra rumen degradable protein from urea. The other is a moist feed with good digestible fibre and about 24% protein on a drymatter basis of which a reasonable amount will be undegradeable bypass protein. The comparison table...
I put a claim in Tuesday last week for a AQ2 air quality capital grant and got the money showing in the bank Saturday morning . I did have to represent my bank statements and invoices twice before this as you can’t send anything with account details on them now because they will delete them...
Yes we did get it sorted. The tractor had had a replacement number plate put on it but with one of the numbers missing. By going on the DVLA reg checker I managed to narrow it down to 3 or 4 possibilities. Spoke to a very helpful lady at DVLA and sent photos of the partially worn out IDplate on...
I seem to remember last backend on the kite podcast that they thought milk could be short this spring leading to rapidly rising prices. Prices are better than they were but not by much.
I had the same with a capital grant on low emission flooring. Fortunately we happened to have enough in the bank account at the time to cover the full cost. I emailed them a copy of the bank statement to show them. I also pointed out asking my accountant was pointless as he only sees the figures...
I knew we could use AFI as standalone heat detection but we have uniform as well and wanted to avoid too many standalone programs to have to flick between. We also have track a cow pedometers on the bulling heifers which is a more modern and reads every 5 minutes. If we were to upgrade I think...
I have had them for 22 years since we installed the parlour. I did investigate moving to AFI software and pedometers but it would not link to our existing AFI milk meters without ripping out a load of controllers and costing a fortune .
My vet headed up the local Westpoint branch. Got fed up with them and set up on his own and took the other vets and receptionist with him. His wife has done something similar in Cheshire with Sandstone vets. Even the founder of Westpoint has now set up a new practice since selling out.
The activity is on crystal. When I pull up the list of bulling cows I want to know which are on the barren list so I don’t inadvertently serve them . Most will have the pedometer taken off if they are barren but it doesn’t always happen straight away.
I have a mate who has 4 of the double box ones. He gets on ok with them but they will be for sale probably next year as he is putting in a rotary (milking 500+)
From your table there is quite a high correlation between PLI and EBI at 0.9. Would have been better if it had been compared to SCI. I believe EBI has a low weighting for SCC as the Irish don’t get penalised much for this where as SCI has a much higher weighting for it meaning some high EBI...
