Fullwood crystal

The activity is on crystal. When I pull up the list of bulling cows I want to know which are on the barren list so I don’t inadvertently serve them . Most will have the pedometer taken off if they are barren but it doesn’t always happen straight away.
I blanked out fullwoods pedometers they were so shite here

I have had them for 22 years since we installed the parlour. I did investigate moving to AFI software and pedometers but it would not link to our existing AFI milk meters without ripping out a load of controllers and costing a fortune .

You can run afi on the same pc for heat only, and use crystal for data entry which exchanges over to afi, so you only have to look at the afi dashboard. Data entry/feeding regimes/lists are all terrible in afi
Their pedometers and heat algorithm are good, and I've mine set up to email heats 3x per day

We had them on heifers for a year, sh1te. Got afifarm ones when we went to robots, much better. Pros they're on long range readers which require afi software, which is better for heat than crystal. Cons afifarm is absolutely f**king horrible for anything/everything else.
Fullwood ripped out our original black strap peds after a year and them being shite and had some prototype fullwood made things called vitality and they were a whole
New level of terribleness, they paid to lease cowwatch to compare data and didn’t take long to realise they were flogging a dead horse and got back into bed with Afikim, they refunded me for all the peds, put us to Tiris tag ID on the robots/OOPFs which I think everyone should have and got sensetime as wasn’t a fan of cow watch and it was expensive.

I knew we could use AFI as standalone heat detection but we have uniform as well and wanted to avoid too many standalone programs to have to flick between. We also have track a cow pedometers on the bulling heifers which is a more modern and reads every 5 minutes. If we were to upgrade I think we would put these pads on all the milk cows as we already have the software and Ariel.

Yeah vitality ones were terrible, 50% failure rate and awful strap lock design
We had tiris neck collars in the parlour/oopf, and tiris tags for heifer oopf, so kept tiris in the robots. Far better for ID than a pedo/heat collar, no battery to die
Afifarm only for heat works very well, good pedometer design and reliability too. Calving detection has sent me emails of about to calve and by the time youd get there she'd be licking it. A good 5/600m of range on the readers with good line of sight, 15 min read time

We use Affi here but on a separate pc..

I'm interested to hear from folk who use affi as heat detection only and in same pc so it will talk directly to crystal/ fullsense.

I have the ridiculous situation where we have crystal for cow n milking data..affi for heat detection , ai, all things fertility , then meds on the ancient sum-it...and then log movements directly on bcms..having. all of the platforms require the same inputs.. so calving...on affi, then crystal..then sum it ..then bcms..all movements intact.. health n med stuff go on sum it... ai..crystal, and affi.. pd. Affi, and crystal .

You get the picture..it is an absolute shambles.

Please suggest a working solution. . Affi good for heat detection.. awful for all else.. can I have crystal talking to affi for fertility stuff..ie enter up fertility action in crystal only.. if so..how?

Then it looks like uniform for all else?

How do I get calving detection set up..I have the box ticked but never notifications. ?

I'm a bit desperate to be honest!!

The data exchange in crystal will pass over calvings, services (inc sire name), pd+/pd-, and dry dates to afi on a time basis with the windows task scheduler. Will create/delete animals and copy group changes too. Wish it would send foot trimmings to afi, as they are in the heat algorithm, but I just enter them into the afi app (only data I enter into afi whatsoever). You can send oestrus events back into crystal, but in the earlier exchange versions afi sent multiple ones per day and made the agenda timelime unreadable so I turned it off. I think the current one only copies the first one per day, but never turned it back on.
Calving detection needs a certain amount of dry cows to get a group activity average, I think. Click the email header in notifications in aficontrol and add your address then hit the plus button on the top right, should send a test email. If you get heat emails you should get calving ones

You can do it across networked pcs, better on the same one though. Afimilk are a bunch of arrogant strokers and made false claims for a long time that crystal couldnt be on the same pc. Ok as long as afi is installed first.

Fullwood dealer job, I think you'll need the dongle updated, maybe both. Worth it though to get rid of what you have to deal with

I record meds in crystal as a health event, using whatever fields I can for dates and batch numbers etc, keeps RT parasites quiet

Cant say anything about movements as we have to use NIFAIS website (NI), would really not want to have them linked

Thank you. I'll be chewing my dealers ear about this tomorrow.! . Still don't understand why the calving thing doesn't work..di they have to be in a particular group?
Don't think the crystal group number matters, once the dry event is copied over to afi it knows they're dry... Logic control has to be turned off in afi, stupid nonsense where you cant just add events like calving without being dry, dry with out pd+, and so on
Group size probably has more to do with it, and wether or not it is sending notifications
