    Isuzu D-Max DPF Problem

Unfortunately I'm in Angus, Scotland. I also live rurally on my own so any fix needs to be a 1 day job. I used my local garage as I can walk there and back so they could have the truck for a few days. I'm not exactly enamoured with their attitude of "diesels are just f**ked now" I have found...

    Isuzu D-Max DPF Problem

Thanks for all your inputs. Yes I keep an eye on the oil level and i do at least 2 dual carriageway journeys a week at 70+ for 1-2hrs. Think I need to find somewhere that can get rid of the DPF and remap the engine as I bloody love the truck and can in no way afford to buy another one!

    Isuzu D-Max DPF Problem

I've got a 2017 D-Max, the 2.5L twin turbo, done 93k miles. A few months ago it started going into regen excessively, local garage had a look and couldn't find any faults in the sensors etc so last week the DPF was sent off for cleaning at a professional cleaning company and a new temp sensor...

Storm Arwen vs Net Zero…..nature vs arrogance??

I don't understand why anyone who lives rurally would ever rely on a single power/heat source, it just seems crazy. I live off-grid anyway so have a small gennie that tops up my battery, I cook on gas, always keep a spare 47kg gas bottle, have a wood burner with a good stock of wood, I keep a...

    Chainsaw safety course

I was being genuinely supportive, that's a really good pay rate for the majority of people.

    Chainsaw safety course

Nice, at that pay rate I would recover the cost of my course, accommodation, food, fuel, safety gear and buying a brand new STIHL in just 6 weeks with no other expenses :-)

    Chainsaw safety course

I did the maintenance, cross cutting and felling small trees up to 16" which was 5 days training + assessment, it cost a bit but it was really interesting and I don't regret a penny of it.

    Main dealers fitters

My only experience with a main dealer fitter was one that turned up late, had never worked on that brand of tractor before, didn't have any manuals on him so couldn't work out how to do the job he was there to do, didn't have the right tools so we had to lend him a bunch of ours and the...

    Any one else panicking

Lots of idiots round here filling dozens of jerry cans in the back of vans etc, unfortunately I was genuinely out of both diesel in my truck and petrol for my gennie so had to dive in for some. My local shell was open, no queue to speak of but some people doing really weird sh!t (woman in front...

    Doggy holocaust

I could go on for a loooong time as I'm currently living with a dog trainer... There is a huge amount of stupid backstreet breeding going on to cash-in on high puppy prices, stupid crosses, no health checks and pups sold to any idiot for cash. Most end up on gumtree in short order. A lot of...

How much money is there in dairy farming?

Read the thread on building your own micro dairy on here, very interesting. Also do some serious research into vending machines and selling direct to the public.

    Rottweiler Guard Dogs Available

They'd be better seperated tbh, they get on well but they do like to take their playfights a bit too far! They're happy roaming around, they run about with our horses, alpaca, chickens, cats and another 12 or so dogs quite happily. They just need firm handling and careful feeding to manage...

What to do 🤦‍♂️ So tight they squeak

I'm with you on this, I joined a farm 18months ago because owner said he had a pot of cash to invest, wanted some profitable enterprises etc. It soon turned into building everything out of scrap, only buying the cheapest possible livestock no matter how unsuitable, then complaining that the...

    Farm shop in shipping containers

Pretty sure a small building for a farm shop under 30m^2 is allowed without requiring PP as long as it is predominantly selling farm produce. I helped build such a thing on a farm last year and when a planning guy came around he had a look, asked what we were selling from it and went away...

    12v water pump

As has been said above, using an auto-air vent inline as well as a simple filter to trap any debris may save you a lot of headaches. My advice with pumps is always to consult a proper pump engineering firm such as Seal & Pump Engineering and pay for the best quality pump you can. Money up front...

    Planting Trees

Why not do some research into silvopasture and agroforestry? Trees can be a massive bonus to your production by providing shelter, biodiversity and mixed cropping. Fruit trees can be producing heavy crops in 3-5yrs, underplanted with other fruits you can be having crops in 1-2yrs. You could...
