Isuzu D-Max DPF Problem

I've got a 2017 D-Max, the 2.5L twin turbo, done 93k miles. A few months ago it started going into regen excessively, local garage had a look and couldn't find any faults in the sensors etc so last week the DPF was sent off for cleaning at a professional cleaning company and a new temp sensor was fitted. It's come back and its still going into regen every 50 miles or so...

The weird thing for me is that the dash light is NOT coming on when it regens, the LCD display has a DPF screen which shows the particulate matter build up and on this screen the bars will jump from 0 to 4, then go to 5 and then the REGEN appears but with no dash lights coming on. Every few hundred miles the dash warning lights do come on, it does a regen then the lights go off. This only happens every couple of months or longer.

I'm hoping someone on here might have some useful experience with this as my local garage don't seem to be able to figure it out and I'm now down £1200 without a proper solution. All my googling just seems to bring up threads from this website!

Any and all help appreciated.

After several expensive trips to the dealer with mine I contacted Isuzu UK. Basically the fault was mine for only driving short (20-30 mile journeys) and not getting the revs high enough 2500 rpm +. I was told to get it on the motorway once a week, (our nearest motorway is over an hours drive away). I did get a forced regen from a mobile tuner which got the regen distance over 30 miles and started to improve things. The dealer then said the forced regen had probably" destroyed" the engine. I might have kept it but the gearbox started to go out, so I got rid of it. :banghead:

Injectors and or egr sticking open.

Careful doing forced regens with the dpf well blocked. Easy to crack em.

Thanks for all your inputs.

Yes I keep an eye on the oil level and i do at least 2 dual carriageway journeys a week at 70+ for 1-2hrs.

Think I need to find somewhere that can get rid of the DPF and remap the engine as I bloody love the truck and can in no way afford to buy another one!

It sounds like your local garage was guessing a bit, there are so many garages just pluging in and firing the parts cannon at them
If you fancy a trip to lincolnshire I can sort it for you (y)
If not you need to find a garage with the right diagnostic equipment and by that I dont mean just the scanner.
They need to check the live data to see what soot/ash the truck thinks it has then use other equipment to see what it actually has.
has your's got ad blue?

That DPF screen almost made me paranoid. Would I be able to get home before the thing went into regen, or would I have to drive around for a few miles until it was complete ? Do other diesels have a similar display ? Advice from Isuzu was to check my oil level every time before setting off "as you would do on any car". I don't.

I know someone who had this same problem, was doing a regen every 5 or 6 miles. Cleaned it and even fitted a new one but the problem was still there, he was having to change oil every couple of weeks too because it was putting so much diesel in the sump.
The final solution was to cut it out and remap. It’s been through 2 mots like this because its well hidden behind a guard.

with my mot testers cap on i can't condone this behavior;)
With my mappers cap on however all i can say is my ranger goes like stink, alot smoother to drive and better mpg.
It's like a different truck (y)
