All of these lobbying bodies are too close to the enemy by far. Look at BASC on lead shot...ramming home policy for which there is no evidence. Better take lead out of houses than messing about with shot. They also have a plan to create a network for DSC 2 holders to stalk across the country...

    NFU Mutual AGM

The pigeons will come home to roost, they always do. Such a shame, great organisation in its day. All are going the same way. Banks, Insurers, vets, accountants, you name it. You are better off dealing with the smaller firms who are grateful for your business and who know who you are. The...

Asulam no more in Scotland and Wales

SNP Scorched earth policy - the balloon is about to go up and they are trying to turn Scotland into a bracken covered wasteland so that their successors starve. They hope if they cover the country in bracken, the police won't find the missing £600k

    NFU Mutual AGM

Apparently the board went. They were having their remuneration rubber stamped by the remuneration rubber stamping committee. I heard there was a recital too...

    Countryfile tonight

More like bankrupt and spending the last of the money on making a mockery of the history they are charged with protecting. Re wilding and low input farming is a gift for these mismanaged institutions. They can save money and tell everyone they are saving the earth.

AGRICULTURAL DEFENCE RESOURCES THREAD PART 1

Found this on Country Squire, not sure if you'd class this as helpful or not...https://countrysquire.co.uk/2023/05/24/farmer/ certainly uplifting and we all need a bit of that occasionally.

The great global warming scam, worth a listen I think.

There is a story that The Goodwin Sands off Deal/Dover -which would once have been part of Doggerland- was the property of the Godwin family (King Harold's lot) and that the money the Earl of the day spent "saving his soul" meant he could no longer keep the land drained and protected from...

Who let the Rats out. Questionaire.

Nothing better than sitting opposite the bird feeder with a pint and the 9mm garden gun, whacking rats as they come through the fence. My magpie loves a rat. The 9mm is a cracking tool. The 410 has too much punch - in my case as the greenhouse is behind a hedge directly in line with the bird...

    Airless paint sprayers ?

Brilliant piece of kit, I use it for spraying an old fashioned and highly effective wood preservative. Saves hours, give good even finish and I use far less of the preservative. You do want to pay attention to your breathing apparatus though, volatilising any chemical liquid into small particles...

    That's me stumped! 😊

NFU mutual financial results / remuneration

That's a response I'd expect from an NFUM board member. If the NFUM had engaged properly with the complainants at the AGM as opposed to just slapping them aside like irritating children, I expect that this thread (and the wilder stuff in them) would never have got going. If you are a board...

    The RANT thread

They are probably on a premium rate line, so I am not so sure that is a great idea. "yes, we will happily refund you £20, having charged you £30 to make the call...can you rate me?" 😒

The great global warming scam, worth a listen I think.

It's all about cash...lots of it. The climate crisis zealots are running a huge business. Overturning the world order, subjugating the rich western middle class and emptying their pockets. Those in that movement that aren't gullible nutters are thoroughly dangerous people fixated on their own...

The great global warming scam, worth a listen I think.

Co2 is a good thing though...helps plant life flourish which helps with the pollution surely? Getting rid of Co2 is not a good thing and impossible to achieve when you have volcanoes and other natural sources of Co2 working so hard to reverse the pathetic efforts of HMG

NFU mutual financial results / remuneration

I thought that was what the Mutual Bonus was for? We take your money, we use it, pool the surplus then redistribute it to all members (not just the long term farming members either) as a means of "making friends".

NFU mutual financial results / remuneration

I fear that the changes to the articles of association probably make that practically impossible as an ordinary member. Getting 500 votes would be a tough call. I suspect that as an ordinary member, getting a cup of tea organised at the AGM might be a job - let alone a motion to switch out the...

NFU mutual financial results / remuneration

I was told that before he became CEO of the NFUM, Lindsay Sinclair specialised in the de-mutualisation of Mutual Societies in the far East. Whether this is true or not is probably immaterial now that he is off the list. Does anyone know whether NFUM actually owns the NFUM management Company...

NFU mutual financial results / remuneration

If you look at the NFUM website and dig into their historical documents relating to the articles of association, they have spent that last few years changing the rules. I think that it would now be very difficult for members to change anything or call for votes at any AGM or other...
