    Post Movement TB Test

I bought a bull mid April and as expected I have received notification that I need to do a post movement test on him between 60 and 120 days of him being on my holding. This means I need to have it done by mid August. I am due my annual test in November and I'm wondering what the implications...

    Worsening blackgrass/ryegrass problem.

I drilled 18-20th October in wet ground, the ground only got wetter after that and the wheat struggled to get established, I think this made the BG problem worse. Managed to get Liberator on pre-em, wanted to get Avadex on as well but couldn't. I think I need to ignore the late drilling idea...

    Worsening blackgrass/ryegrass problem.

Yes. I'm reluctant to go back to it though as I think the structure of the heavy land has improved and don't want to go back to square 1.

    Worsening blackgrass/ryegrass problem.

I'm in my fifth year of strip tilling following a more traditional plough/power harrow based system. I had some decent results in the first few years but the last two wet autumn /winters have not been so great. My main problem is the blackgrass is getting out of hand, I don't think my...

Thank you all for that. You have confirmed what I expected to hear, I will not be feeding any wheat with my creep pellets.

    Creep feeding lambs-whole wheat?

I'm creep feeding my lambs at the moment (bought in pellets), last year I supplemented this with some bought in barley which I fed whole. I haven't got any barley of my own but I have plenty of whole wheat, this could well be a stupid question but could I feed whole wheat instead of barley in...

What vehicle to pull livestock trailer?

Thank you all for your replies, lots of very helpful suggestions. I can see a lot of plus' for a LWB Defender, I could chuck all my junk in the back and possibly a wet dog as well without having to have it 'in the car' as I would with a Discovery the price is a big negative though. Will most...

What vehicle to pull livestock trailer?

I have just treated myself to a new 14ft. tri axle trailer. I will be using it for moving cattle as well as sheep with the deck however my old Discovery took one look at it and decided that it wasn't having any of it. I soon found out that the 4WD wasn't working and a visit to the garage...

    Scouring Lambs

They're doing ok but are only recently weaned so it's perhaps not the best time to judge their progress, I'm taking some to the vet tomorrow so I'll report back with his findings. They are mule x Suffolk lambs. I could try some hay possibly.

    Scouring Lambs

They are on an aftermath, relatively new ley that hasn't seen sheep before, they are recently weaned so I can't really be too critical of the growth rates, I would say that their growth rate perhaps is a little disappointing though. I am planning to take a few to the vet tomorrow to have blood...

    Scouring Lambs

This sounds interesting, I will have to gather these lambs in the next few days for another thrilling dagging session! before they get fly struck. I will speak to my vet about the possibility of doing blood tests as you have suggested. ps. I found it hard to concentrate on your text as I kept...

    Scouring Lambs

They were wormed on 4th July And samples tested on 21st July, I will speak to the vet about a resistance test but the previous test only showed a low egg count anyway. I always keep the dose rate on the high side as a matter of course. Thanks for helping.

    Scouring Lambs

I have got a continuing problem with scouring lambs. They are a batch of March born lambs they were wormed with Depidex (Ivermectin) at the end of May and again at the beginning of July. This made little difference to the scouring so I had a few samples tested by my vet, which revealed a small...
