£5 coffee

Wise words there.

This country is very quickly becoming too expensive for much of the population.

…..and the MPs, Westminster establishment and pressure groups are continuing to drive the cost further with things like net zero.

Totally out of touch with the majority of the population.
Who just awarded themselves a 5.5% pay increase to over £90k plus expenses and pension

commercial rent and rates / tax / employment law/ planning etc probably mean they aren’t exactly making a fortune selling coffee at £5 even

the real reason things have got expensive in the uk is that half the population think working is optional and being fat / lazy or useless is now a “disability“ ………. and they all need keeping in coffee all day
Agree, and many will somehow afford to be at Cheltenham races, drinking very expensive Guiness etc etc.

i gave up tea and coffee completely a couple years ago - I was drinking far to much of both it was noticeable when i gave up - actually made me fell ill / had headaches for the first few days without it !!!

but after a years or so i decided i missed a morning coffee so started drinking it again but in moderation 2 cups max and never after lunchtime, black and from a bean to cup machine

haven’t missed tea at all though so maybe 3 years now since i last had it

I drink a tea and a coffee each day, generally instant coffee because who would keep a proper coffee machine clean at work?! All it does is give a caffeine hit though, tastes rough.

This firm up the road roast their own beans, and have a market stall and a trendy shipping container restaurant place in Ely, as good a coffee as I’ve ever tasted. https://silveroakcoffee.co.uk/

If anyone is ever wandering round Ely I recommend a Cortado from their stall, it’s a proper poncy little shot of espresso with a tiny bit of steamed milk. Probably costs more than gold per gram but it’s certainly got a kick 😂.

Don't forget to be grateful for what you have. After radiotherapy last year I can't really drink tea or coffee as it irritates my throat. I am now stuck with hot chocolate which is more like having a dessert rather than a drink.
Today isn't so bad, I am having some local, still cider which is what farmers did drink traditionally of course. I'm all for it but doubt much is going to get done this afternoon.

None of you have mentioned tea made in a cup as far as I noticed. It's absolutely feckin awful made in a cup instead of a pot, it beats me why people do it and even more so that they can't tell the difference.
As for monkeycrap coffee, it could be unicorn poo for all I care, I still wouldn't drink it. :ROFLMAO:

I once made the mistake of brewing up with a ration pack 'gallon' teabag in a pint mug, and spent an extremely restless night sweating profusely and hallucinating that 'the trees were dripping with fire'.
It's one of those mistakes that you only make once.

I heard a fair few stories back in the day from the old and the bold about what some of the earlier types of ration packs contained, one of them swore that the tea was laced with bromide. I suspected that it was just a load of bollox to wind us up, but you never know.... :ROFLMAO:

I remember hearing ration packs were designed to make you constipated, as a soldier having a crap, was a vulnerable soldier.
