Never read through all of the comments... BUT here are my thoughts :

Any farmer who would charge another farmer £70 for a round bale of silage deserves no luck. Talk about kicking people when they are down!!!!

Surely that's what happens in a free market though? How many farmers in a good year will say it costs you £20 to produce a bale, I will give you £25 so that you can make some profit? I doubt it very much, they will pay market price even that is only £18. I'm not saying either scenario is right or wrong, just the way it is.

Agree but it's sorta karma for all the years bale buyers have stolen them below the cost of production!!!!!!
nobody stole them its just market price and weather or not they were below the cost to produce them very much depends on how much those that produce them want to make it cost, from what I read on here some wouldn't even make a profit selling at 70 quid as their costs are so high :whistle::whistle::whistle:

I would agree in some situations but I would only sell my bales for £70 because I need them but at that price I'd sell the bales and cover the cost of selling stock.
People can choose to charge what they like and it is for the buyer to only pay what it is worth.

What a country,
We are not far away 1/2 way between Nottingham and Leicester and it will not rain here. Everytime since the main national dry spell ended and various parts of the country have had rain I have watched with envy.
East mids must be the driest place in the country.
Yes indeed. The times I have seen the forecast for rain and the rain alarm shows it getting closer then fizzles out to nothing more than a light shower:banghead:
