Nigh on 1,200 acres, over 3 sites of former Blankney Estates land north of Lincoln, has been purchased by Forestry England.
Currently being sown with grass in readiness for the trees.
A cash injection from an ‘airline’ has helped, so they can offset their carbon emissions.
Which bit is that?

Probably suits them not to have to move machinery through Lincoln. They managed to blow the gearbox of a Claas 870 free wheeling down the hill from the Cathedral and hasn’t the land at Carlton been in turf for a while anyway.
Not sure about the land currently under turf, but the North Carlton land ( west of the Lincolnshire showground ) has been sold.

It’s nearly 2000 acres as all of North Carlton has been sold, all that’s left is the rented land at Burton and the land at Nettleham!

That's nothing most of the land south of Lincoln is in the planning process for a rather large solar farm :bag:.

Its a funny old world. Poor Henry Ward has land that floods that he and Andrew rage at the EA and government for not defending so it can grow food yet Blankney are putting into solar thousands of acres of naturally well drained land that will never flood, without me getting to the land going into trees. Which should society be asked or expected to fund. There seems to me a lack of joined up thinking. But as ever money talks. Hey ho.

A fake solution to a fake problem.

I don't think that's correct.
It's a fake solution to the real problem.

This is being financed by an airline so it can tell passengers' that they are on a carbon neutral flight which is a lie.
It wouldn't be such a lie if they bought the land to grow crops to produce SAF [sustainable aviation fuel] but that would require too much land and might highlight the complete lie of offsets.

^^^^^^^ this exactly.

I noted a couple of months ago that shell have quietly shelved the 'aviation fuel from renewables' project in ...Holland?
Oil is still cheap.
