2014 6 meter Sumo DTS Old style cartridge type seed metering (not the orger type)
I have been having problems with the seed metering. And wonder if anyone has had a similar problem and if you found a cure.
The seed metering will be turning, and the in cab display confirms this, but no seed will be coming out. I am certain that it is not bridging in the tank. If you stop the fan for a moment and then restart it, all will be fine again.
To me the problem appears to be with the return/leak off pipe to the tank. There is a fine gauze between this and where it connects just under the seed metering roller. It would appear that this gauze over time get clogged with dust etc and then blocks. It seems that then there is a pressure build up and is enough to stop the seed dropping out of the roller.
By switching the fan off for a moment the dust etc drops off the gauze start the fan up dust blows off down Coulters and all is good for a while. It is farm saved seed and has been cleaned, the seed is not the problem.
