Actually that is a bit harsh, the first new one I had this year wanted gassing into pieces and was a true Friday afternoon machine,it’s replacement is 100% better but still not a patch on my original one

If you can I'd go for a 536.60 they're a far better machine altogether. I liked the 526 15 yrs ago but since going to the 536 they're like night and day in comparison

We have a new to us 526-56 64,plate. Replaced a 526-56 09 plate with 11500hrs.

This one has the electric joystick instead of levers but still the manual gears. Overall the joystick is nicer to use except in fiddly work were a squeeze of the spool was all that was needed to lift something 1/2 an inch.
Boom suspension is great, bucket shake is crap.

The engine is similar to the old one but this one is common rail, needs a wind to start and theres a delay till it takes the gun, its noiser than the last one but jeezo its lively, this one really goes when ypu floor it, much more like the old 526S. i thought the power was the same but I might be wrong.
Ive a mate with a 526-56 65plate with ad blue and powershift gears and christ its dour besides mine.

The crowd linkage on the boom is prone to wear so watch out for that if buying.
Overall a good loader, hold its value well, so much that a 536 used is similar money. Finding a low hour unabused one is the tricky bit though.

I just can’t get on with the boom suspension on mine, both 526’s I’ve had this year are awful when going down, take you’re hand off joystick and it just judders, having to activate it every time you start the machine is a pain, the hire 536’s boom suspension was way better and smoother

The actual machine just seems to have no go about it whatsoever with ad-blue and whoever thought it a good idea mounting the ad-blue tank where they have and totally blocking vision of the back right wheel wants hauling over hot coals

Thanks for advice. Test drove the machine, was worried about the sluggish start take it that is normal then with common rail? It is not adblue and also manual 4 speed gearbox, seems lively. Hitch seems slow? Can anyone tell me what AUX switch is for? Had old 526s 01 previous so used with pretty basic machine. Thanks again

Sounds pretty much like mine.
The engine needs a wind to start, just the way they are. Ours is much livelier than the last one.
If its the pickup hitch at the back you mean, yes its slow, there is a restrictor in the pipe to slow it for some reason, the electric divertor went wrong on ours and thats how I found out about the restrictor.

If its the Aux switch on the dash, it is three position, normal 3rd service, then bucket shake, and constant flow. You can activate the third service to constant pump for a mixer bucket/ bedder/cement mixer etc by the switch on the dash, then you press the button on the joystick to switch it on or off, the flow rate and direction is adjusted using the right hand roller. Works well on ours. Middle setting is bucket shake, press the button while tipping the joystick and it will jerk to shake the bucket.
Trying to remember, brakes cutting drive, boom suspension, fan speed(6), air con, reversing engine fan, are all stuff the 526s wont have, switch to 2wd for roadwork is handy too.

We had a 99 (V reg) 526s which was a brilliant loader, swapped it at 12500hrs to a 09 plate 526-56 and have swapped it at 11000hrs to this 64 plate one, its done 400hrs here so on 3800 odd now.
One thing is the fuel tank is smaller than your 526s, our first held about 140, then the last one about 110, this one wont hold 100.
The newer ones are a little longer than yours and noticeably more stable, she wont lift the back wheels so easy. I like ours, it suits our farm well.

Take it it's the small circular button on the joystick that activates the constant flow function was puzzled by it thought it maybe engaged clutch and wasn't working. Then didn't think you would need that as shuttle on trigger.
