3500kg trailer, 2 axles or 3?

I would have a tri axle every time if working to 3.5 ton, that said I still use my old single axle for light work up to a ton payload

OK so the only issue I can see with trip axle is scrubbing when turning sharp, but what about wear and tear in the long term? If I buy a new one now I don't want it to need replacing for at least 30 year

keep it serviced and stored inside and hopefully it will last well
turning is about wheelbase more so than number of wheels

Buy a tri axle GE then.
The lower load height is a bonus as well.
Prices all on the website but you can knock 10% off.

If you're buying an Ifor Williams with 3 axles make sure it's at least 16ft, the shorter tri axle trailers aren't as nice to tow.

Nah i just go flat out all the time so the wheels skip from the top of one bump to the top of the next.

Well when i say flat out i meant as fast as the old disco could pull it. I've never established what flat out with a trailer on is with the 3.2 ranger. im not keen on speeding tickets

If i was buying a flat trailer i would go for the tri axle GE with the little wheels like in @Dave W picture. But as i'm local to the factory i can't see the point of anything else.

In fact i think Graham Edwards Trailers may be a member? @GET

Brain James worth a look we've a hydraulic 3 axle tilt bed, has fatter, lower wheels than on a ifor.

Why do you need to run on five wheels? What's wrong with fitting the spare that is with the trailer at all times?

Rather keep driving than change a wheel on side of the motorway - especially against the traffic.

C.L.H are their stockists in your area. You know where they are? Blegwyd industrial estate, virtually next door to A&M Case dealers. They make their own smaller trailers of course.

I wonder whether there is some cross-fertilisation between the two companies?

You have two keen IW dealers, Riverlea and Mason Bros. One keen Nugent dealer in Rees Bros Drefach, who is a regular on this forum. Not sure whether Brodyr Evans sell Indespension/Hudson from Haverfordwest.
So plenty of choice, some of which usually have stock to see.

Lots of people advocating 18ft trailers but I seldom see trailers longer than 14ft on the road. 18ft is hellish long and unless your cargo suits, the extra length is seldom really useful. It may be for some people. Everyone has a different need.

Just buy the one you like, that is as close as possible, with the best deal.

The main difference is between Al-Ko rubber suspension and leaf springs with beam axles. Otherwise they all do the same job.

Going to confess I haven't read the rest of the threaf but

I've had my tri axel for 3 years now and I'm always screwing it round and the tyres haven't scrubbed down half as bad as people told me they would. It gets used at least 3 times a week and I'm not scared of putting a good load before people start with the well you don't carry weight.

If you buy a decent make, for example not an ifor you won't need to change it if you look after it. Start over loading them and bashing them and not Maintaining them they won't last

Was 18 I think, I only saw them briefly and took a photo. On their way home from Cheffins via Holyhead to Ireland
