I bet 1 500hp tractor gearbox is less than 2 250hp tractor Gearboxes. Same with engine oil, filters, labour to service them.
I'd say the same.
Ultimately nearly any size farm can justify a larger machine if they keep it for longer to make the use of it viable. In reality there are a lot of farms about which seem to buy a huge tractor like a 939 and then use it for everything like spraying and fertiliser spreading which to me is madness. I'd sooner have a smaller tractor for the every day work and some goliath that comes out of the shed once a year to till or drill and then park it up. A wheeled Case artic could be kept in a shed 10 months of the year, brought out for a few hundred hours work each autumn and parked back there. Driven by a conscientious operator you could stay in the same gear all day and make nice sweeping headland turns. All you'd have to do is service it on the dot.
