Currently running 2 case maxxum 125 one is coming up to change if I go 125 again it's now a 4 cylinder is any one running one and are they as torque as the 6 cylinder or do I go for the 150 which is 6 cylinder but over the top for what I need

From my limited experience of modern 4cyl tractors about the only thing missing is the 6cyl growl. 4cyls drone a bit more but unless engine sound is important it’s not really a problem imo.

If you don't need weight for heavy lifting then the 4 banger will be plenty good.
In reality all things been equal how much extra does a 6cyl weigh over an identical spec 4cyl? Yep 2 pistons and a bit of engine block. Another 50kg wafer weight hung on the front prob more than outweighs the advantage of the engine with a greater number of cylinders.

But yes I’m a 6cyl lad at heart!

Had a few pocket rockets over the years,a Valtra n141 chipped to 175hp and a 6430 similar, great towing tractors but turn the pto on and they died.

I like the sound of a 6. Everyone does, it’s natural as it’s to do with resonance. It’s pleasing.

However modern 4cylinder’s go very well too.
It’s down to choice as much as anything but in the years to come a 160hp tractor will only be a 4 banger.
Shortly after that 180. That’s how it goes.

I replaced a 6 pot nh with a 4 pot case, the case hangs on a bit better I feel. I don't know if it's the engine or the fact it's got a different gearbox so gets less power loss. I was sceptical at first but it will match my 6480 on the drill

The extra wheelbase makes a lot of difference though both carrying mounted implements and handling trailers etc. No amount of front weight can make the 4 cyl as steady as the longer 6 cyl cousin. Horses for courses though

NH T6/Case Maxxum tractors are now the same wheel base whether 4 or 6cyl. Even though there's only one 6 cyl to offer now for the die hard 6 pot fans. 4 pot, 145hp has just 40nm torque difference to the 6cyl, 150hp.

All the specs and info you need to know are on the websites. Alternatively ask either dealer for a brochure. Heard lots of good things about the new ones so can't be bad. I would always say go for as much hp and spec as you can sensibly afford.

Not now they don’t, only 6 pot is the T6-180/maxxum 150
Seen it advertised in the NH dealer the other day

It seems as that's the replacement for the t6030 or 50 sle models. Basic ish (As basic as new tractors go) six pot mixed farm tractor

New cases and nhs are the same size either 6cyl or 4

As said a lot are the same wheelbase now which is logical really as simpler to machine an extension piece of casting up to bridge the gap rather than altering the length of every part that stretches across the engine. So it really gets down to what sort of noise you prefer to listen to from an engine and pub based bragging rights! As a tool to do a job logically whatever is most efficient should win!
