So I’ve had electrical gremlins for ever and trying to sort things out I’ve had the r/h circuit board out of the dash and resoldered a load of cracked joints in the process of putting new rear lights on and everything does something it shouldn’t I’m assuming it’s earth problems but my brains gone to mush with frustration any body successfully sorted the crappy John Deere wiring out that wouldn’t mind giving a few tips on it

Any wiring that's over 30 years old an in an agricultural environment will have issues. I would never consider it crappy. Take a look at the wiring on French tractors from the era.
However, what problems do you have more specifically?? The plug connections are the worst points and also the blade type connections on the lights. Have you had the left hand dash panel out for soldering??
