Looking for some small (3' and 4'), 5 bar, half meshed gates, preferably with d-loops rather than spring bolts.
Can't seem to find anything off the shelf, just had a reasonable quote for made to order but the lead time is 12 weeks, which puts us solidly in winter and i need this farrowing system up and running before then.

Any ideas?

The piglets know where the milk bar is at though... They don't go far from mum.

We have 500 sows farrowing outdoors, all behind single electric line at about a foot or 14in off the ground. Gilts are trained in a paddock with electric backed by pig netting for a few weeks. Then out into radial paddocks for service. By the time they make it to their first farrowing they know bloody well not to go near the fence.

Works well for us. Piglets sometimes go for a wander in summer, but never get lost. It's a commercial herd, weaning at 28 days. If you wean later it may not work so well - can't imagine an 8 wk weaner hanging around quite so much if it's basically self-weaned.

ETA - sorry, I'm not actually helping with your current dilemma... We use hurdles tied to posts with string where we need a gate-type device in the field (around the handling circle). Sheep hurdles wouldn't last two mins for us, but would be ok as a stop-gap if the sow has no real motivation to challenge them...)

Yeah we wean at 8-10 weeks and by then they're running down the road....
