I noticed a few days ago a crop circle in a field next to the A17 yesterday, so no, I reckon it was the Aliens from Planet X, just experimenting with the homo sapiens they introduced to the Planet colloquially called Earth, but actually is Planet 1.00.001 in the constellation X.001x.05 on the inter galactic treaty agreed interplanetary map.

If aliens are so clever why do they keep crashing their spaceships?

The value of all stocks has risen by $10 trillion since the election of Donald Trump.
Full employment, less regulation, low inflation.........a booming economy.

Taking cheap shots fools no one.

And you really think that this bizarre overvaluation of loss making and poor preforming giant US tech corporations is a good thing? When the correction comes as it surely will have to, it will be joe public who looses his life savings. And I don't particularly blame Trump for it, he is merely the bloke in the big chair at the right or wrong time depending on your view.

Which ones are loss making ?

From the top of my head, Tesla , Uber, Snapchat ,Lyft, Zoom, Printerest. Airbnb etc. In fact it's probably easier to name the profitable ones.

Most of those are not integral to the USA economy.

Tesla somewhat but not a major player yet. Uber does have a cost reduction on standard of living for some .. Airbnb a little as well. The rest have no direct manipulation of the economy ?

Pinterest for example doesn't affect the economy.

These startup punts that fail happens a lot .. underlying USA economy is moving industry & taxes from China to USA.

The great Silicone Valley start up usually involves a couple of kids with a bright idea who then have money thrown at them by those with more than they know what to do with. Six months later it all goes tits up when it turns out that nobody gives a flying fig about their idea no matter how clever they themselves think it is.

On the face of it yes, however, there is also a great waste of money, but who cares if the wealthy loses a bit and it does keep some their money in circulation. But the thing is not to get over excited about it all or gasp and swoon at the latest app which tells you where your pizza is.

Indeed, the 'waste' of money is at the heart of Capitalism. Alternative is state planning. But that presumes the state can accurately predict market needs and wants. History tends to suggest the state cannot and the apparent scatter gun approach of Capitalism does. This is fine if money lost is solely the money of wealthy folk, and thus the role then of the state within free market capitalism is to protect the average 'Joe in the street' from being ripped off if they hand money over to 'investors'.

State planning has also involved attempting to control what the market needs and wants, equally as futile as the Greens may be starting to realise, or the more sensible ones anyway.

Bottom line, post Brexit you will need America, (maybe more than you anticipate) .
Personally if I were the Pres I would let you sink after all the insults............but maybe he is more gracious.

Its' a tough world out there and you cannot count on Europe to be your friend.
I am wondering what you think President Trump's reaction will be when he sees Boris Johnson's old comments about him from when Boris was London's Mayor and Trump was in election mode.
"I think Donald Trump is clearly out of his mind,” Johnson, who was at the time the mayor of London, said of then-candidate Trump
"a quite stupefying ignorance that makes him, frankly, unfit to hold the office of president of the United States.”

He does come across as, how to put it.........not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Unless he can stand up to our Pres he will not get respected.

Ironic, as I’d put your first sentence’s accusation to Trump. I don’t like his politics and don’t trust his motivation, but from my position Boris is in a completely different intellectual league to Donald.

Politicians eh! The Donald will have known all about this long before he offered the mother of all trade deals, or whatever it was.
