Sorted some lambs for market tomorrow, completely forgetting I bought in some yearlings a few days ago and thus triggered a 6 day standstill .... so plan B.. I am correct in can I still take them to a red market? Any tips on the best time to arrive with lambs at Bridgnorth Market so as to avoid being the first or last pen sold....

might have been better to have stayed at home today... though I was having a coffee and missed to see mine sold :banghead: maybe I will be surprised when the cheque arrives to find mine was one of the pens that did alright, after all mine were drier than most...

How do you know what’s a red market and what other colours are there - is there a list somewhere?

There's only red and green in Wales, can have orange in England as well. I don't think there are many red marts in Wales, they'd be for animals straight to slaughter I guess. I know Newcastle Emlyn mart (run by Bridgnorth auctioneers Nock Deighton) have a red and green sections in different sheds - red for cull cows, green for everything else.

So red is straight to slaughter and green is from fattening stores/fattening culls/breeders/Fat lambs?

Red market means you can't take them home, stock bought usually goes direct to slaughter or afu

Red markets are very far a few in Wales, most are green

A orange salw is a tb restricted sales I think
