718 replacement what to go for

Weighing up 724 or JD at the moment. Mix of jobs - 5f on steep stoney clay ground, 4.5t silo compactor, 20t haulage, pumping digestate down 1800m of pipeline, isobus fert spreader with section control, 3000L trailer sprayer etc. Currently have 718 but need something with auto steer to spread out jobs from our main field tractor which can be under pressure at times.

What model JD would suit these jobs, does the frame size of the R series tractors increase between models or just the hp? A 250r looks absolutely massive, even a 215r looks bigger than our current 718.

That is because a 215 is a bigger tractor than a 718.

6R185 would be on top of all those jobs, we do a very similar list with ours. 235hp on boost, and it’s a believable boost too.

That’s kinda what I am wondering, if 185 or 215 is comparable to its main rival the 724 which is identical in all ways to our remapped 718

I got a 6r215 in the spring also had 185 on demo .
He bought the 215 over the 185 because that's what they had in stock with the spec he wanted

I have say I was more impressed by the 185 than I am with the 215 . Same plough and same front weight I'd say the 185 was better balanced And I'd say pulled every bit as well as the 215.

The 185 was lacking in lift capacity compared to the 215 but that was with a heavy 4m combi drill on .

Whatever you get in the JD line get it on 42 inch rear wheels at 80 inch centres if possible if you get the bigger fuel tank on it

Why the possible move away from the fendt?

How come the love for 42’s? I thought a 650/75r38 would be a good tyre on that size of tractor

The big diesel tank is a harbour for crap building up and the 38 inch rim is very close to it so can end up rubbing paint off . 38 inch at 80 inch centres will be better

Also much cheaper tyres and them 650 75 38 can't be let down as much as you think from past experience once we weighed the tractor

ML180 in 718/720 and ML180HD (heavier bearings) in the 724. But identical in every other way I am told
I fancy a 620, are they available yet?

There going to replace gen6 700s at some point.

620 is based on 820 of old. One of there best sellers.

4 cylinder but same wheelbase, weight as 820. Not buying a 820 is one of my life regrets.🤦🤣
