We are trying the prototype 8m simtech direct drilling spring beans next into a variety of bare stubbles and after grazed stubble turnips and ungrazed tillage radish. If anyone wants to see it working feel free to come and look. We will probably be going Wednesday to Friday next week but best to call me first on 07768594401 to check we are going, Cheers Julian

Will post pics in due course.Weather has put us back a bit ,now looking like Mon/ Tue next week.Tried it with no seed in just to see what it would do and looks good, esp. punching through the compacted layer from sheep grazing in the mud all winter!

Going well in shocking wet conditions under the crust.Like half set araldite! Initially was blocking with coulter tubes plugging but we have now modified it by cutting out backs of bottom of tubes and now going fine. Will post pics in next few days.

What's a typical forward speed when direct drilling or when do you start to get coulter bounce/trip?
We were drilling beans at about 7-8 kmh mainly due to ability to get 250 kg/ha down the pipes and wet gloopy conditions underneath. Would drill much faster in better conditions/ smaller seeds. I don't think coulter bounce would ever be an issue with the strong coil tines.

Any decisions made on the above drill?

What were the results like in regards of yields?

Have you drilled any cereals in direct drill conditions?

What's it like in hard conditions?

Sorry for all the questions

Drill was great and in my opinion could almost be the perfect min till/ no till drill : `A kind of poor mans cross slot` ( Oh dear the JD 750 fan club are not going to like that ! )
Purchase of this drill was not an option as I am locked in to my 10m system at present, just wanted to try the concept.
Yields were shockingly rubbish for all kinds of reasons but not the drills fault!
Should be fine in hard conditions, the tines are pretty tough and have cutting discs in front to help penetration.
All in all a superb drill considering that it is a prototype and the small design niggles could easily be ironed out in a production version.
