Have 6 weeks from when you can destroy in 2nd year to hopefully drilling wheat - last year presumably like toast & you could bale up for bedding.
In a wet year topping off a 2ft high mass could leave a thick mat & long stubble under the tyre tracks.
What have people done

Does anyone have any good tips please on the best way to destroy AB15 Legume mix prior to planting winter wheat? Possibly looking to shallow cultivate/rake before direct drilling with Weaving GD
Any advice on chemicals and rates would be appreciated
Thanks
Don't plant wheat after AB15.. cover crop over winter then spring crop or maize. There is not enough chemistry in the whole world to stop those weeds from coming back in the winter wheat... i am on my 3rd rotation of AB15.. you have been warned...

Seen some AB15 near Hereford Last week a mass of Red Clover , my God I thought would they sell me that , I have spoken to them and it seems a few livestock farmers have beaten me to it ,
Curious.

Last permissable cut will have been 15th May (iirc), so will be scenescing a bit now with brown seed heads, although the damp July has meant some greener material.

Will it have much feed value and palatability now?

Edit.
Dry suckler cow feed or half decent to give to fattening stock?

There is another patch there .... I will, look later today and see what it's like . Can be mowed tomorrow 🙂🙂
Interestingly we mowed some off a month ago make space for the cars to park at the festival and I didn't find anyone wanting it so most of it is still stacked in yard ......Will be the same as you saw in the field just younger cut !

Last year in the drought, neighbour grazed some sheep on some legume fallow which was more senesced than in those photos, burnt up quite a bit in the heat. I've never seen lambs alter so fast.

To he fair they'd probably been short of grub up to that point, but boy did they pile flesh on.

We made some silage bales of stuff similar to the photos, and the heifers weren't too keen.

The AB15 we've got, which we're silaging now, has got some Timothy in the crop. Timothy has run to seed, but has regrown in the bottom, so some decent leafy grass, some nice green clover and some clover with seed heads now turning brown. Hoping to get it wrapped up before Friday's rain.

Find someone to take it as silage or hay
