AB9 stewardship winter bird food.

Looking for the usual swift collective knowledge of forum members on a theoretically simple matter..
As I understand the terms and conditions for the above mentioned AB9 bird food stewardship option, I can vary the area in any year as long as I have more than the minimum requirement (2%) to comply with scheme rules.
Some other options require a fixed area for the full term of agreement ( although this area can be moved around the holding). I understood that the above option is not one of these and was surprised when informed otherwise unofficially.

In layman’s terms I’m planning to drill spring barley in a couple of fields that have been in bird feed for two years and am hesitant to wade through the natural England system to get the definitive answer.
I might be drilling in a month and might not have received an answer!!
Thanks.
