Paddle mixer keeps jumping the small drive chain when fully loaded ?
Looks like the chain tensioner springs all the way back and then pops forward which springs the chain off is there a mod that stops it from happing ?

Take a link or 2 out of chain which will leave spring under more pressure. Iv a wee star paddle mixer how do you find the abbey cause star no longer available and when it comes time to upgrade will either be abbey or hi spec paddle?

Is it just a rubbing block type tensioner? If so a small orrectly mounted sprocket will be better. Or 2 sprokects in mounted in an 'over centre ' type configuration is even better if theres room also a bit harder build and needs more slack/ spare length in the chain

There is,
Remove the problem chain, take it to the local chain shop, advise man at counter that you need a new chain that was as long as your own chain before it wore ta f**k right out,
Take a joining link, you'll need that, he'll have that too, return back to feeder and fit new chain,
Bingo, you have now fixed your problem.

That is of course if you havn't f**ked over the sprocket teeth while you were taking your time askin about.

Failing that I'd buy a tub feeder and all your problems will be sorted in one foul swoop.

Na tub feeders dont leave the silage as nice thats why a paddle will be my next choice

is all still lined up, are the knives sharp. what do u call loaded.

as tinman says it could be chain but I t would need to be really loose, knew a feeder with the front gear on the main shaft had to be shimed out straight again, how something bent I don't know but did the same as u describe. sorry don't remember the make

Yes think so but the tensioner is on the wrong side in a way as when it gets max strain the tensioner gets push way across think taking a link out could may do it. Over Loaded means 4 ton never seams to do it on 3 ton mix unless it gets to much Molasses. Will give it a go tomorrow

There was no tension on the idler but is nice and tight now just tightend it on the ajustment slide. See if that’s enough to do it
