They used to have a good extension team too in Heather McCullum, Charlie Morgan & Chris Duller ......... all of whom have gone on to greater things (or at least have to earn their own crust)

High sugar grasses.....perhaps a thing for another day.

Moving on, I would point out (respectfully), that Germinal are not the only plant breeding company in the world, and that there are rather a lot of others who have been breeding grasses for a long time also and doing so in considerable volumes.

More to the point, no company I know of have a monopoly over all the best varieties available in any segment of the plant breeding game. Competition is good.

Some cracking festuloliums from those clever folks at DLF. (y)

Back in the day they had a fleet of Masseys, all under two years old. There were stockmen and shepherds who never touched a machine, tractor drivers who never touched livestock and they also had two men just doing fencing and farm maintenance. Not to mention hundreds of scientists who did....... something, I suppose.

They've sold most of the machinery now. I think there's only one tractor driver these days and nearly all the work is done by contractors. I know some of the lads that work there. Most of the old school staff have been made redundant or taken early retirement.
