Adjusting mf 6497 handbrake

How do you do this please. I got the fuel tank off cleaning it out and the handbrake could do with a few turns. But where do i look.

There is a plug or possibly hyd Union on top right corner of left hand side cover in front of rear axle
Take this out and use either a 17 or 19 socket in through the hole and tighten nut
You will feel the nut go over a ramp when pulling on handbrake it should be 8 clicks

Tape the socket onto the extension or you will be splitting he gearbox to find it again.

ok theres a big nut just above the filter. Is this the one to undo

The bung pictured above the filter is where you adjust the smaller ones. You will find that It is in the top cover on a 97, bit awkward to get too but can be done

Is there a bung now. 5400 series haven't got one and the side cover has ti come off. Another backward step

Yes there is a bung on a 6497, MF handbrakes and technically a parking brake only and should never be applied when the tractor is moving, used correctly they’ll never actually need adjusting
