He's been had for sure But you would think the "engineer" surely a intelligent and practical person would have seen that was a scam in the making, so he was offered a commision from a man who was "too busy and out of the country too much" to list his own items on ebay yet he had to ask him about each item and pass that reply on the potential buyer.

Ebay vehicle alarm bells:

  • Far-flung location where people are unlikely to want to go to view.
  • Fixed (cheap) delivery fee. Who's going to transport a tractor from Aberdeen to Exeter for £160?
  • Refusal to let buyers view
  • Seller claiming they're abroad but vehicle is in UK
Walk away from anything involving any of the above

Also multiple pictures of different machines in varying locations indicating there is no 'yard'.

Add to that silly cheap price for the tractor.

I was following an Iseki on eBay, 90s around £6000. Exact same pictures of that tractor on a newly listed auction with a Buy Now of £3500 came up, based in Scotland.

Another thing to worry about are phone numbers or email addresses loosely hidden in the advert, encouraging you to get in touch to circumvent eBay fees - which means no protection from EMBG.

Absolutely. No disrespect to the guy, but he must have have had his brain switched off if he believed that shite. Anything for a buck it would seem goes.

I tried viewing a fast trac in scotland a lady selling for her farther (could of recently died) cannot remember now she was away working abroad
i pay her she deliver tractor and give me money Back and collect tractor if i didn’t like it i fancied a trip up north so i tried to view it but told no i asked there must be a knabour to show me but told no
Same old story
If its to cheap to be true its probably is a scam

Not necessarily. Ebay don't allow phone numbers in auctions so genuine sellers are stuffed. Buyers want to view high value items.
eBay have come down on this hard now.

I had a guy message me for location (pretty obvious it’s in the ad but hey probably not the sharpest of tools) then he messages me his mobile number. I don’t respond as big brother is watching obviously.

The next thing I know I’ve got an official warning from eBay. Next step my account get suspended. WTF.
