I don't think she actually had much knowledge of farm assurance schemes, which is why they got away with so much
Is there an on farm hospitality assurance scheme🤣🤣
Oh no they depend on local authority inspection to check food hygiene standards.., but that’s not good enough for cereal farmers producing grain for biofuel or animal feed ( unless it’s being imported)

I gave that a laughing emoji, but that's how silly it is. We're all perfectly happy if the butchers shop has a Food Hygiene Rating, but NFU convinced themselves this wasn't good enough for farms, and we'd better pay for our own inspection.

The chairman of the AHDB Nicholas Saphir said at the Newcastle Uni FW meeting in November that the GFC “looks like mission creep”, and the AHDB were going to have their own “wide ranging review” into farm assurance.

Fast forward 4 months, and if you read the job description then here it is.

complaint lodged

who over sees the ahdb?

The AHDB answer to the Farming Minister, Mark Spencer.

But we don't know why they want someone in this role.
AHDB could be;
Assessing the potential to make their own basic assurance, a low-cost entrance to the maximum amount of markets as per their remit.
They could be hoping they will educate their current staff who were found wanting in the recent governance review.
They could be assessing the assurance levels of imports to guide reforming Red Tractor.
They may be compiling a report to advise on whether RT should continue at all.

not the point though.....they have no right to compel non rt members to pay for this position

waste of levy payers money....especially since many of us are not rt

another snout in the trough 😡

this is not acceptable from the ahdb....they're compelling non rt levy payers who work longer for less to fund something that is of no use or interest

right🤔...where's my high horse🤔

Presumably part of the role is to help piece together the assurance review, or feed in to it (I always get confused between "into" and "in to". Help appreciated).

£60-£80k/annum???

I'd like to hope it will be a role which might help us. It's certainly shows AHDB are spending on the subject.

Wonder who'll get the job though? They're asking for someone with a knowledge of assurance schemes. Jim Moseley? 😲😲😲 When there were calls for him to resign, he did say he wasn't ready to retire.

^^^^ This is the issue. Will we end up with someone who has a pre build bias due to their background. Obviously we need someone who can look at it from a completely blank sheet.

This assurance thing is certainly costing AHDB (actually, it's costing levy payers). £40k for review of cereals assurance, ongoing £70k assurance employee, review of beef/lamb assurance ££???
