AHDB seeks farmer views on data sharing code of practice

Tarw coch we cannot go on letting these people take our money,we are working physically and mentally none stop to make a living only to give a slice to a organisation that we don't want but have no way of being able to get out of they are trying everything they can to undermine our campaign to go voluntary, why do these people think we need their input no other industry has to pay a levy to a body where most of the staff have never done the job, what reaction would we get if we asked them to drop over and find out what it's like at the sharp end we would have welcomed a hand over Christmas has would most livestock farmers I guess ,then they could see what a days work really means not like on the ahdb video that has just taken off YouTube where Jane king is telling the staff that(my have you worked hard this year) does she know any more jokes

An gof what would be a good average amount a livestock producer pays a year to the ahdb if it is possible to calculate such a figure,I appreciate it is not quite has straightforward has the horticultural sector where we get 0.6 percent taken off our turnover irrespective of profit or loss and no other people in our supply chain contributes anything other than the potato merchants which amounts to pence.

What's average?
You can work it out. It's £4.05 on a fat bullock and 60p for a lamb

So sell 200 fat cattle and 500 lambs and the bill will be £1110
You won't buy much "professional" time for that

They may be parasites but they’re not stupid, they know as well as I do that if the levy was voluntary they’d be out of a job.

An gof so you think they know more than you don't under estimate yourself you have probably forgotten more than they know ,we do not use ahdb for that very same reason, don't be fooled by their same old propaganda about getting chemicals approved etc it doesn't stack up, but it is your choice if you want to use them that's fine we don't and we do our own research with cooperation from seed and chemical companies so our contribution of twenty one and a half thousand a year is money down the drain and even that is a lot less than some of the growers that have signed up with us some are paying one hundred thousand and one will have two hundred and fifty thousand to find per year now you could get some serious advice for that

Those figures are obscene, even allowing for the fact that a business like that has very little in common with your average family farm.

Currently it’s a cost I have to pay. My way of looking at it is to engage where appropriate and try to extract as much value as possible.
I am less happy with their direction of travel recently but I would not like to see AHDB disbanded. However, you are paying far higher dues than I am and I therefore can understand your reticence.
The biggest issue I see is increasing government interference so that AHDB becomes a government delivery body that we pay for; rather than actively responding to and following the demands of levy payers.

White Rabbit you may think I need reprogramming ! I have been farming many years and know we have got to stop these parasites We have got to find some way to stop them building an empire with our money.I will support any vote to stop them

Good god an gof it gets worse just been on twitter looking at pictures of ahdb staff making paper houses and paper aeroplanes to knock them down you couldn't make it up and to think the nfu are in bed with this outfit let's all grow a pair and kick them out .

Sorry Simon w didn't want to come over appearing rude but I fear we might be too late to stop them empire building they are out of control we are trying to get them to realise that they are a luxury we can't afford but this goes deeper than just the ahdb

I’m assuming everyone else has been and found it useless?!
Is that something they organised for levy payers to go to:scratchhead:

..or is it something they did to amuse themselves:scratchhead:

EDIT...just looked again - I see it was for us, when I read it properly. FFS there's even been one in Lincolnshire:confused: Can't make my mind up whether I'm more angry that i didn't get invited or that they thought it was a good way to spend our money:mad::banghead:

Well I guess my point is that one can’t really comment on whether it is a good use of money without knowing what was covered. Just because it is building paper houses doesn’t really tell us much.

Being annoyed that you didn’t know about it is totally a legitimate gripe. If you aren’t hearing about this stuff let them know. I get emails from dairy quite regularly (almost too regularly).

Well raider 112 when you think about it there will be quite a few levy payers parting with some serious cash because the arable farmers hardly pay anything and to pull in 60million where is that sort of money going to come from it really does fall on the shoulders of livestock and horticultural producers,I am sure somebody will correct me if I am wrong but I believe the hop producers do not pay a levy and the poultry industry do require the ahdb to tell them how to raise chickens so no cash from either of them which saves peter Kendall a small fortune seeing he is a large poultry farmer

I get a few emails too sandpit farm pity they don't take any notice of the ones I send telling them I don't grow tomatoes ,cucumbers , lettuce, bedding plants and the like but they still keep sending them still it's not their money there waisting ,strange they could not get any emails out regarding the review mind you the window was only nine weeks so was a bit tight on time.
