Do they get the bolua at drying off? Do they get anything else close to calving? Minerals in a TMR, iodine on their backs or mgcl in the water
Not a thing for the cows, all cattle are on self feed, it's only the R2s which have the iodine problem on an other farm , but are on 1st cut silage and are bolused at end of December for 1st of March calving. Always use to pour on iodine , but dad is in his seventy and for safety went to bolus.

Anyone know where I could find a new one of these? It's on the churn lid which is for our dump line in the parlour,

Not such a lovely day on top of the hill today!View attachment 683244

Lucky you, not had any proper rain since we had a few thunderstorms a few weeks ago, the ground is hard (im struggling to get the electric fence posts in) grass growth is going backwards, the fertilizer i put down 3 weeks ago is still visible in the field, and dosent look like much rain forcast for the forseable future :(

Are you planning on milking many? Are you home processing?
Not many really. I always fancied three or four, but we've been advised we will need around 15. Our first three in milk come in a fortnight, we've two more dry cows currently that should calve early next year and we will see how it goes. We are just going to bottle it and sell initially, probably do cream and butter as we get going.
