French imports are £1200 calved and £1250 in calf, only cull price puts me off.:(

All depends on where the euro sits. We lost a little because it moved at the wrong point. I'm buying in euros from now on. So I get a price in euros and then there is no dealer hedging his bets incase the exchange rates go against him and costs him too much.

Cull price is crap but for us we don't really no any different now just accept it is what is it.

We have bought 2 loads of uk cattle since starting and had problems with both.

Buying full herds is the best way,I've chance of one nearby but they are a bit lazy for me.:)

There are loads of cows available up here, I have just bought some in calf heifers due in 6 weeks for £900. Very good health status too.

I bought a herd from near Edinburgh in 12,bvd free tb free and in calf to the angus,they have done very well for us.

Would putting an ad in the Scottish farmer be worth a try?

Probably, either that or phone some of the dealers up here. I will speak to a guy who was shifting cows privately for people and see if he knows of any if you want.
